http://www.thewombforums.com/radio/NewRadios/slippy/index.php Listen to "***NEW***All Things Slippery". Thank me later.
Have to be honest, I'm three minutes in, and I'm fucking bored already. This guy communicates like a 15 year old pothead.
I'm guessing he's doing that preserve his anonymity. I agree that quite painful to hear but he makes some very valid points.
Yeah but tbh, most of his points are pretty damn general - to the point where they're well known by now. I can use some comb filtering to make my bass sound less shite? Well duh. Electronica producers have been doing all sorts of crazy shit since the 70's. What is it with rock and metal producers? Ah. I'm just being grouchy. But hopefully I have a valid point too!
Ah! Didn't know that. Well maybe he's simply a (talented) dumb ass after all. So... Who are mixerman and Bitchslap?:Spin:
The first third or so is really annoying and I had to pause because I was tired / bored. It gets very funny (and true) about in the middle, the part about the music business. And in the end it got really fucking sad, I swear I just sat here in silence for a few minutes after it ended. Pretty intense
Haha, just watched this interview with Tim Gilles and it's funny how his language is completely different yet the content is so close and I am sure it is the same guy Not a bad job sounding like an annoying prick in his "podcasts" as Slipperman. But seriously, the thing with his health is fucked up, I'm still real sad and I didn't even know a thing about him (except for the name) until 2 hours ago. A little OT but since he has been mentioned: I'm currently reading both "The daily adventures of Mixerman" and "Zen and the Art of Mixing" and enjoying the books a lot.. amazed his book on mixing doesn't get mentioned a lot more around here since I feel it gave me more insight than most books, especially the overly technical ones (which I also like).
Yep. That's pretty much the reason for my post. It really hits home HARD when he starts ranting and gets really passionate. He really made me aware of my passion and love for the whole recording thing and put these feelings in the appropiate context for me. Yep it's really cute how he's sitting there and talking so politely about some really positive stuff instead of ranting and swearing all over the place. Thanks for posting that, great interview and really interesting guy! The daily adventures of Mixerman is way too funny. Also really helpful in terms of production psychology. Havent read "Zen" yet, but will do so sometime.
Sure and he has a point there. His opinion is actually very similar to the beef most people on this forum have about Joey Sturgis and his imitators. The problem a lot of guys here seem to have with all the Joey-ripoff dudes. You should strive for finding your OWN sound. Just look at CJ, Ermz or Seizure if you want some examples of that.
