http://www.roadrunnerrecords.com/blabbermouth.net/news.aspx?mode=Article&newsitemID=133354 No word on whether or not they were remastered, but I hope the guys stand to make a few bucks from this. Those 2 cd's had a major impact on me and my musical direction both as a guitar player and as a music fan.
Epic/Sony obviously sold it off without bothering to think about the band members input, so fucking typical...
Was just about to write "I wouldn't be surprised if Warrel and the guys don't even know about this". So I guess that answers my question on who actually owns the rights to the masters/recordings. Well sucks that they didn't even bother to notice you or ask for input, but at least you can expect some royalties from the sales.
So, WD is it safe to say that you guys get nothing from this? If that is the case, no purchase from me.
same here, if they are remastered and you guys get roylaties then my bank will be lighter when it comes out, considering i dont have the originals as well.
I have the originals as well as the LIVE CD. I'd buy them if you guys got the cash from it. I'd like a nice package with the Mirror black Live included...
I bet those recordings were sold for less than an apple and an egg (just look at that label, it seems like all they do is to score rights to old recordings). If the people at Epic/Columbia/Sony had ANY integrity, they would have offered them to the band first. But how can you expect them to go that extra mile.
I have the originals, so I don't need to buy. but if they do get remastered and WD and the guys get some kick back then I will be purchasing.
I've got a buddy that wanted to do this same re-release. I told him he'd probably hear nothing back from the inquiry...so, what does it matter?
"Didn't know"? http://blogs.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=blog.view&friendId=42841521&blogId=525794323
I hope s6 and the guys get something from it with the new thrashers that want to realizse the metal 80's by buying the stuff. But its a saga now in the showbiz arena's everywhere with the top 3 major companies controlling basically all theplay.- Have a look into the doco mixmash, if you liked listening to beyond within the lsd story..
If I understand the music industry correctly, bitter failed musicians make money from exploiting genuinely creative, talented people by any means necessary, including, but not limited to, 7,000 page contracts that effectively mean the bands don't own or have any rights to anything they've created, and I believe random, unlubricated, ass-fuckings. Can anyone help me out -- is this a reasonable approximation?
These albums are sexy. I don't have much else to add. Other than everyone should watch Brothers. It's ace.
I was about to say something among the lines of "Holy fuck, this is awesome", but after Warrel's reply I am kinda pissed. I am still looking forward to it though.
