Does anyone know the name or can link (I've googled to no end) of this skin condition that a person is born with, making them red and flaky all over?

Don't want to be rude and ask my friend what he has, but I'd like to read up on it more.

Thanks, but no cigar. This is something that makes you completely red all over.

Strangely, my cat Odin is never at ease around this guy. It's like he thinks he's a zombie, he keeps his fur puffed out and keeps his eyes on him. :/

Maybe he has that harlequin skin condition? Harlequin Ichthyosis. Most babies with it die pretty soon after birth but occasionally they will survive:

That's pretty much what he looks like right?

Yup, although it's not Harlequin Ichyosis or however you spell it, I learned all about that in middle school, haha.

I don't think his condition is going to kill him early like Harlequin does, he's in his mid 20s. That's very close to how he looks, though.

I'm sure if he's been living with it for his entire life, being asked about it won't bother him.

I know but I only see him when he visits from San Antonio for a weekend, feels wrong.

In any case it isn't that important, I didn't mean to jack the thread.

@ DSEV: Maybe your friend has Psoriasis?
    -
Scabies is a little bug that digs it's way underneath the skin and seems to be afraid of hights because it hardly moves above the shoulders.
Not funny and very hard to get rid off because it is contagious. Do you know who/where you got it from?
Good luck and get well soon, Resonator.

I myself, am bothered at the moment by RSI in my left wrist and underarm and it's making me grumpy. I can't get rid of the constant tension and pain in my wrist and thumb. I only work for 2 hours a day and i am limited to 1 hour computer work a day.

It's not Pyriosis, it's something he's born with that never goes away. He has to soak in the tub every day and put oil on his skin, it's just one solid complete color or red, maybe with a slightly pink.

He's really cool, though. He's no social outcast. He goes clubbing, raps, plays guitar with me using his stub (he's missing a hand) and I pick for him. We learn Staind songs since that's his favorite band and they got me into rock.

Still sounds like the harlequin crap to me. If you survive it as a baby then you can live your whole life with it as long as you treat your skin regularly. It would also explain the lack of hand, as it can cause deformities and gangrene.

It's thought to be related to psoriasis, since a lot of kids born with it have psoriasis in their family. Another reason for me not to reproduce!
