Fragile Dreams also closed Friday night, no? I also think those last 2 Voyager songs from the Twitter pic were cut.

The darkest part of your soul.

Obviously talented band...but when you haven't played a significantly long set in America since the Milwaukee Metalfests of 99 & 01, then maybe it's a pretty good argument for a name change. Because when you have such a minimal representation of your early and mid-sections of your catalog, it's a slap in the face of fans of said-era.

Ten albums with the name 'Anathema', and they play five new songs in a 90 min set? Just wow.

I was disappointed with their setlist too, because they are my favorite band in the world and I would've loved to hear more of their older stuff....

With that being said, I rather they not compromise their collective will for the sake of us fans. They played a great show nonetheless, by my standards, even if it was much less interesting than the string of 'Resonance' shows they did earlier this year. And as far as the name goes, Anathema is whatever the hell those guys (and woman) want it to be.

As good as those last albums are (Untouchable and A Natural Disaster are exquisite songs), I wanted Angelica or something of my introduction to the band, the essential Eternity. However, since most of these are Patterson songs, perhaps they want to save on live royalties 😀😀

I get what you are saying when you mention Untouchable, but A Natural Disaster? That was released 12 years ago

I think the point is that AND, along with Fragile Dreams, is pretty much the only pre-WHBWH song to get played consistently. Even OLG, which was a staple for the longest time, hasn't been played so much in the past few months I don't think.

Still, Its not one one of the 'early' albums, where the sound was more raw and metallish:)

That Riverside set was killer. Mariusz just sounded godly, and it was a great spread of tunes.

I disagree with Anathema changing their name or catering to older fans doing earlier albums. Usually I would bitch about a band doing this, but in the case of this band, they have had a total transformation as a band to the point where they don't need to play old stuff and the old metallish stuff was fairly early in their career. Them doing that stuff would be totally out of place.

I much prefer this current Anathema set list.

I saw them in 2006 when songs like Sleepless and A Dying Wish were on the set list. The difference between styles is so huge that the show does not flow really well with those old songs. They sound silly and out of place.

I only miss songs from A Fine Day to Exit, one of my favorite Anathema albums.

I attended 3 Anathema gigs in Brazil last week and the set list was the same as Prog Power. The only difference was that they played Deep in Rio de Janeiro instead of Lost Song Part 3.

The current music Anathema plays sounds nothing like they did in their early-to mid period.

According to this set list, there is next to no older material from that time. Apparently not interested in performing it anymore.

Mark Tremonti, Brian Marshall and Scott Phillips of Creed released music with Myles Kennedy and didn't call it Creed. They preferred Alter Bridge, which at times sounds a wee-bit like Creed, but mostly SOMETHING DIFFERENT. I guess those three guys were lunatics for changing the name of their music.

I know they never will change the name, but after stating the facts of the matter then I can't really see a good reason for keeping the name Anathema. For me, that set list put the nail in the coffin in my desire in ever seeing them live.
