I'm a picky motherfucker and its driving me insane. does anyone have bands/songs that sound similar to gojiras: vacuity or where dragons dwell, devin townsend: deadhead, depth charge, entombed: say it in slugs, etc. basically something that sounds nice and heavy but isnt really fast. and if you do have something that goes pretty fast im up for that too, but its gotta have a pretty nice melody. thanks.

Vacuity - Try something off of 'Obzen' by Meshuggah.

Depth Charge - Might want to try out some other heavier prog metal like Disillusion if you don't already have Devin's other stuff. Also, check out Kryoburn.

Have you taken a look at any Melodic Death before? It sounds like what you're describing, being heavy at some parts, but often having melodic choruses. If you're up for trying out some melodic death, try:

    Scar Symmetry
    Disarmonia Mundi
    Amorphis
    Omnium Gatherum
    Insomnium
    Quo Vadis

Not all of those are necessarily based on the criteria you were looking for, but all are pretty big melodic Death metal bands

Also, this should have probably gone in the Music recommendations section :)

I'd generally go with Bolt Thrower for that heavy as owt vibe, but without all that distracting blasty nastiness. Midtempo chuggable death metal. Also, for that extra say with slugs style Entombed-y vibe, any of the last three Unleashed albums are basically that Motorhead meets The Chug-monster death metal kick.
