Singer Björn "Speed" Strid of Swedish metallers SOILWORK has issued the following update:

"We are nothing short of super excited to announce the recording of our first live DVD ever. This very special and unique evening will go down in beautiful Helsinki, Finland, where SOILWORK have always had very loyal fans and shared some great success through the years. The show will take place at The Circus on the 21st of March.

"It's been a long time coming, considering we released our first album in 1998, but here it is!

"We can't wait to share this special moment with you, our fans! The show will bring you songs from each and every album of our career. We also have some very special guests invited for the show as well that we can't wait to announce. In addition to this, we will randomly draw 25 people out of the 500 first people to enter the venue that will join the band and the crew for an after-show party!

"Make sure you don't miss out on this... See you on the 21st of March in Helsinki, at The Circus. It's a date!"

The choice of location for the shoot of the first-ever SOILWORK audiovisual live document was an easy one since Helsinki has always been a second home to the band. The venue itself, Circus, was just the right one to offer a full-on SOILWORK show.

The show will mark SOILWORK's only Scandinavian show of the spring.

The DVD will be produced by Jouni Markkanen and directed by Ville Lipiäinen, who also helmed the most recent NIGHTWISH DVD, "Showtime, Storytime".

Nice! I don't ordinarily go in for live DVDs, but this one might get a purchase because I'm a Soilwork fanboy.

Don't worry, this will be out on Blu-ray too (this was announced during the show on-stage and also seems to be mentioned on their Facebook page).

It was a great show with well-chosen setlist, and Speed was having a very good evening vocalwise. They actually had a 10-15 min planned break before the encore set, I'm guessing just to make sure his voice can take this extra-long set. The Helsinki crowd was definitely pretty enthusiastic for this special show - so hopefully the filming crew managed to capture the atmosphere nicely on film too.
