Really nice! What's the reason posting these on here?? Trying to get me curious? Haha, well it worked. Do you make these, or know who does? I bet they sound awesome with the metal neck. I remember when Zon basses first hit and they had a nice twangy sound because of the grafite neck. And Vieger or something like that, Geezer played them for a while, but they didn't stick around. Must be expensive too... SDG

since I posted that one I´ve found another german manufacturer with steel fingerboards: http://www.phantom-guitars.de looks nicer and more metal in my opinion Steve you got the brand site on the bottom of the first post: http://www.lefay.de/ I´m not associated with any of this manufacturers at all. I just couldn´t avoid thincking of you when I saw metal and fretless on the same bass. I´m glad you like them, and yes, they are expensive.
Seems the two German companies have some obvious similarities... I like the look of this one much better, you are right with your description. I still have not played any of these metal type of fingerboards. I wouldn't know the difference until I do. I am totally happy with my semi-new Thor bass. I really like the sound of a wood bass. With everything getting so virtual and digital, it's nice to still have my hands on something that feels of the earth. Keep the pictures coming though, these are really killer looking basses. If had tons of money I would get one to see how it really is in action. If anyone has one or is experienced with the differences between wood and graphite; or wood and metal necks - post something about it if you would. SDG

I actually like this one quite a bit, looks like it was built from an aluminum gutter, but sounds incredibly "woody" for being all metal, and it looks like someone can build something similar for under $400:
Hey guys, let me say that the bass from Lefay above happens to be mine (not this one, but I have one of the first models they manufactured). I can say it is awesome, all passive and worth the buck. The village were the manufacturers live is actually only a few kilometers from Wacken, btw. Seems that is why they got into a metal mood for this bass. A predecessor of this one had an aluminum fretboard, but playing on it made ugly spots, so stainless steel is better
Very cool looking basses - I know of lefay - but didn't know they did metal boards..... I do like the look of the phantom as well. Great posts! Thanks!
I did go and add these folks to the fretlessbassist.com forum - so hopefully they will be able to answer some questions about the basses mentioned here!
