A little correction that bears noting here for historical accuracy's sake - it was for most of us our first experience working with a Grammy award winning producer. Our lovely Nikki had that honor with Phantom Blue on their second release, Built To Perform with Max Norman, who produced Megadeth and MANY Ozzie releases, among others.

Another bit of MaidenS trivia for ya!:p

I just hope there won't be several months of delay due to waiting for cover art this time.

And I hope those who've seen the band live over 60 times get a free copy. :kickass:

For the record: The several month delay between recording and the release of the first CD had nothing at all to do with artwork. It was caused by the first singers inability cut her vocal tracks (1 verse of 1 song laid down in 6 hours due to key and pitch problems) and her quitting the band the very next day! The instrumental tracks were complete, but it took us 6 + months to find Aja and then a couple months to get her used to the material and up to speed before she went into the recording studio and nailed all the songs and vocal tracks (lead and back up vocals) for the album in 3 days.

Last time, AFTER we were told it had been mastered, there was still a delay of several months, and at the time we were told it was due to waiting for Derek.

This reminds me of the band I was in a few years ago. (Part of this story, I told Linda at the Fairbanks show.) We were doing the local do-covers-in-bars thing for a while, and finally started compiling ideas for original tracks. The singer we had did well with the covers we did, which included tunes from Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, AC/DC, MegaDeth, Kiss, Led Zepplin, Black Sabbath....

But.. when we started writing he couldn't come up with anything. No lyrics on paper, and couldn't seem to sing in key if he wasn't mimicking the tunes he sang in his car. After a few months, we'd had enough.

We hired on a new singer, and he started contributing right away. 2 weeks later, we had 5 songs. We took them to an open mic night, and got great reactions. (This is where the similarity ends.) At this point, I said we had our demo tracks. The others were not satisfied. They wanted to have 12 in the can before we sent anything out. It seemed to work out, because we had only a few solos to clean up before mixing. Then it happened.... The 24 track digital system we were using had a hardware failure. Three data recovery companies (and no luck) later, we were back to square one.
