Well over the past few months I've been trying to expand my musical interests and right now I'm pretty satisfied with the metal side after buying a bunch of albums from that end of the spectrum, but I've realized some more mellow prog-rock would be nice so I can be deaf in 10 years instead of 5. Currently I'm interested in finding some more mellow progressive stuff(not necessarily devoid of distortion but with all clean vocals) - all I've really been listening to from that area is Opeth's Damnation, most of Porcupine Tree's discography, and A Perfect Circle's two good albums. Any suggestions welcome. Thanks!

Get into the classic prog rock bands. Yes (70's material), King Crimson, Rush, Camel, ect.

+1 to the 70s suggestions, especially King Crimson. +1 on Green Carnation. Also, Ulver's "Kveldssanger" is a pretty sweet acoustic album.

I hear sir_schwanzelot has a really nice acoustic metal band going. But I guess he is too shy to talk about it :(

Do you have amnesia? You released "Sir Schwanzelot's Super Random Retard Acoustic Mellow Tracks, Pt. 1" just a few weeks ago.

Images and Words would be nice choice, artist is obvious and you're not worth it if you don't know it. :heh:

Actually I suggest all albums by this band. :headbang:
