Has anyone here used the web service headliner.fm?

Wordpress insists that I sign up to it but not sure if it's safe or worth it.

What did people spend their money on before crowd-funding initiatives? I don't really remember. :p I realise there was the occasional thing like people donating to Dick Johnson after he crashed into a rock, but now it seems like a way of life.

They bought CDs, records, t-shirts. Crowd funding isn't really donations. They are actually getting something for their money. In most cases its merely a fancy pre-order.

Can anyone recommend a band like Type O Negative (but not exactly like them)?

have a hankering for goth metal with a self satirical nature & fun along with the depressing darkness.

I would urge you to check out Woods Of Ypres if you haven't already.

Got most of their stuff but they also won't be making any more new material due to death of lead singer.

I remember speaking to him a few times through last.fm and the forum and he seemed a really honest, approachable guy as well as an exceptional songwriter. He is greatly missed. R.I.P. David Gold.

What are you missing from their catalogue?

Just realised that I only have two albums of their's. the one from 2004, Pursuit of the Sun & Allure of the Earth & their last album, Woods 5: Grey Skies & Electric Light (which is fantastic).
thought that I had more but must've been part of recent data lost from corrupt hard drive.
    No matter.

Is it just me or are there many metalheads strangely obsessed with the awesomeness of ducks?

Okay, I have just started this whole process of mixing a song. I have a buddy that has a song they recorded he gave me their STEMS to a song and wanted me to take a crack at mixing and mastering it because the studio didn't do a very good job.... The Stems Include... a Bass track wav , Lead guitar with clean, distorted and crunchy sounds, rhythm with a clean and distorted sound and DRUMS made from superior drummer exported as wav with 4 TOM tracks.... OVER HEADS, SNARE, KICK, and HI HATS as wav.... Now... How do you "Pan" these guitars... and drums... Also I wanted a MIDI drum file so I can resample these drums to sound different but he lost the file... is there a way to make a new one using the WAVS I have for the drums... I am lost please help.

What software do you have? I recommend trying Reaper. You can use it fully before/without paying for it. Panning is as easy as adding a track and then moving the slider to L or R. Or add a 'track envelope' for pan, add some points to the line and then move them up or down to tell the sound where to go.

You might like NZ band The House of Capricorn. I don't know if they go as far as self-satirical, but they certainly have fun with it. It was more amusing when they packed their lyrics with subtle stuff about the devil when they started out playing stoner rock, but their latest 2 albums saw a move towards gothic metal and/or death rock kinda stuff so it fits better.

Cheers for that. Will give a proper listen to later without shitty net connection getting in the way.

If I have one folder where I put rock songs, and another folder where I put pop songs, which folder should I put pop rock songs in?

Set up a shortcut or a symlink to each other's folder and let them mingle after a few drinks. :)

I can only imagine a similar mingling was what lead to The Cardigans covering Black Sabbath.
