Yes, it's true, this is no joke :))

A good friend of mine who works for http://www.Acidplanet.com arranged to have one of our songs used for a remix contest among the community there. I'm not that familiar with it all, but from what I understand, users of the acid planet software can join a community for chatting, forums, and of course remix contests like this.

We chose our (probably) most accesible song, A Fair Trade, for the contest.

We thought this would be not only a very fun thing to do, but also something quite different, and a way to get our music exposed to a crowd that might not otherwise have heard of us.

Here's the link to the official contest page:

Check it out, there are already several entries, some really trippy stuff, it's crazy to listen to.

Also, please pass the word on to friends who might like to participate...and by all means, get hooked up with acip planet and participate yourselves, it would be great to hear remixes from some of our fans.

    CHeers,

    -Paul

Cool, I'm going to participate! :p

And I'm kinda going to cheat a little bit (though I think way more entrants did something like this), but I'm going to add my own guitars and basses to it and experiment with a lot of stuff....

    ....beware!!!
    :p

    It's finally finished!!!

Not that it took me ages....
...it took me ages to install Acid on my (not connected to internet) PC, 'cause I figured that the *.sfk loops supplied could only be used with Acid (not all loops were in Wave-format). Turns out I couldn't open the SFK files at all:zombie:, so I couldn't use (for example) the first verse, so I used the second 2 1/2 times!

So yes, I used a couple of samples: Some drum samples, some vocal samples and some synth samples. All samples needed some adjusting, because they were all badly cut and thereby hard to put on a clicktrack (so I didn't use one, but the drumloops instead).

I've added my own basses, rhythm guitars, clean guitars, lead guitar, harmony guitars synthesizer leads and pads. There are no original chord progressions left except for the Jazzy/fusion bridge and outro, all other chord progressions were composed by me with a guitar on my lap, playing along with the vocal samples to see wether the vocal-lines would fit the chords. :p

While it took me 3 weeks to get Acid on my PC (which turned out as 3 weeks wasted), it only took me 1 1/2 days (including sleeping, eating, etc...) to actually compose, arrange, record, mix and master.

You can check it here (I hope...):

Guys, whatever happend to this contest?

When I click on the link it says:
"This contest has closed. Judging is in progress."
But seeing that it's been ages ago I'm wondering if it will ever change...:p
