I've never really looked in to this band. They are cited as influences to so many bands, and from what I have heard, I am definitely intrigued. What would you guys recommend as a good starting album?

It is a great band that have made quite a few releases. I would start with "Children of God" or "Greed".

Also check Michale Gira's band Angels of Light, the first three records from them are amazing.

I would recommend The Great Annihilator. Also,I'm a starter to this band, but TGA is the best among the albums of them I have listened(for now :D).Celebrity Lifestyle,Alcohol The Seed and Killing For Company are great songs.

Good band, hardly listen to them, but I do spin Children of God every now and then.

I think the tidbits I've heard were from Children Of God, iirc. Thanks for the recommendations, el serpiente and Enslaved! :)

I was definitely surpised at their sound. They seem so much different than other bands that were out at the time.

I have to agree that TGA is superb. It does however sound different than the earlier stuff. But TGA could also be a great way to start our with Swans.
