2 things Timmeh... What kind of picks are you using there? And i noticed you don't use a whole lot of pinky in ur scale work (well in comparison to some), just in-born? easier?

I use Jim Dunlop .88's (which I bend to fit my thumb better - they look really thin because of that, like I'm bending them out of shape when I play but they're all actually pre-bent before I start), and the pinky thing.... it's amazing how many people have commented on that since I did that video! HAHA!

I feel more natural using my 3rd finger rather than my pinky, although my pinky is pretty strong too. Generally, if I can reach a fret with my 3rd finger, I'll do that first (with some exceptions, depends on the riff) but if I need to then I'll use my pinky for a wider stretch. Dunno why that is, I guess it's a habit I picked up when I was first learning how to play. It hasn't gotten in the way or anything, it's just one of "those things" that I do. :)

Can anyone recommend any decent metal-ish vocal DVDs they've seen?

Sorry, I had no idea where this should be posted, but I thought there would be a fair few of us interested in it... from Slashdot today...

"Recently YouTube seems to have started applying extreme compression to the audio of uploaded clips. This is the type of compressions used by radio stations to make everything louder, but in this case applied extremely badly. In quiet passages, breathing and shuffling become overpoweringly loud. A gently plucked guitar chord becomes a distorted thud. Listen to an example here. And here's what it could sound like — still not perfect, but a whole lot better. The fixed version is thanks to a workaround proposed by Sopranoguitar — the idea is to turn down the audio and mix in a high frequency sine wave (I used 19kHz). The sine wave fools YouTube's compressor into thinking that the file is at a uniform level (and does not need the volume changing at all) but is filtered out by the encoding process (so, no need to worry about deafening any dogs)."

Alternatively you could encode a loud 20hz tone as well because I'm pretty sure YouTube's compression high passes the audio after it goes out anyway.

I could see why this is a good idea in some ways but it would be nice to have the option to disable it...

If you're downpicking 8th notes at 240 bpm are you downpicking 16th notes at 120 bpm?
    I'm sure it's the same

I thought someone linked that here a couple of months ago.

If not, I must have seen it somewhere else. Either way.

That guy is not a human. He looks like he's just cruising.

Hmmm, yeah it's possible. There's been a few insane shredders linked to here and I may have missed that one. Apologies to the OP if I've repeated you! :)

Some generic responses you might hear from a 'jealous and frustrated guitarist' in regards to the bumblebee video:

    1. wanker
    2. he needs a life/girlfriend
    3. yeah but can he play the comfortably numb solo??
    4. I bet if we slowed it down it would be sloppy
    5. yeah but I bet he can't write a riff
    6. he looks like he should be in Fear Factory
    7. why couldnt he do it at 340 bpm???
    8. so now he's learnt that, what's the 2nd song he will learn?
    9. B.B King is better and he plays 1 note. << This is somewhat true
    10. ''play some chords''
    11. so what? he can't sweep using his fretting hand over the neck like Michael Angelo Batio or David Shankle \m/

    classic
