I think it's really boring, streamlined catchy metal with no real edge. I'm no 100% Testament fan nowadays though which might change my verdict a bit. I mostly listen to some classic 80's songs and "The Gathering" for nostalagia these days.

Yeah, that's true. I really like the first song, the rest is all atmospheric soundshaping stuff that I can't listen to longer than a few minutes without getting aggressive and wanting to hear a song with at least a little structure

My top 10 list with the best Of 2008:

    1. Meshuggah - Obzen
    2. Ne Obliviscaris
    3. Epicurean
    4. Bloodbath - Unblessing The Purity
    5. Veil of Maya - Common Man's Collapse
    6. Recueil Morbide - A Neverending Fight
    7. Textures - Silhouettes
    8. Cyaegha - Steps of Descent
    9. Slipknot - All Hope Is Gone (lol i like it :D)
    10. Virgin Black - Fortissimo

Comments: I don't listened too much new stuff this year .

2 albums didn't get into the list but almost: Decrepit Birth - Diminishing Between Worlds,Amon Amarth - Twilight of the Thundergod ...
Comments: they was good but not as good as the others on the list

Best EP, DEMO or MCD of the year: Bloodbath - Unblessing The Purity, Ne Obliviscaris
Comments:UTP and the Ne Obliviscaris EP is fukin the best ;)

Major disappointment of the year: Cynic - Traced in air, Opeth - Watershed, Bloodbath - The Fathomless Mastery and the new Deicide

Comments: Cynic: Focus is much better with fantastic riffs and melodies and then Traced in Air .. therez nothing new and full with boring stuff o_O

Opeth: WTF? there are some great moments but the keyboard is crap(and Per always using that shit 50s rock sound world... ) and Fredrik with his melodeath riffs ... its fuckin kill the Opeth feeling..

Bloodbath: itsjustanotherdeathmetalalbum-feeling... If you compare it with other Bloodbath stuff it's just a typical "not baaad" album. There are some great moments on the album (Hades Rising and Mock the Cross are fuckin cool) but thats all -.-

Deicide: I don't want to say anything... its just shit :(

I have to say most releases this year were quite disappointing :S
Normally making a top 10 is easy, but this time I actually had to search my harddrive for albums I liked and still didn't get to 10.
So yeah, here's my top 9:
    1. Equilibrium - Sagas
    2. Obituary - Left To Die
    3. Hypocrisy - Catch 22.v.08 (I'd rather see a new album, but this one's good too)
    4. Grave - Dominion VIII
    5. Bloodbath - The Fathomless Mastery
    6. Motörhead - Motorizer
    7. Hate Eternal - Fury & Flames
    8. Decrepit Birth - Diminishing Between Worlds
    9. Eluveitie - Slania (even though I only like a 2 songs on it)

    Albums that didn't make it:
If they're not in the top 9 they were shit.

    Biggest disappointments:
    Bloodbath - Unblessing the Purity
I mean, what the fuck? I always liked Bloodbath for their unique sound, and this album just doesn't have it.

    Kalmah - For The Revolution
Really boring tbh. Too Children of Bodom-ish.

My top 10 list with the best Of 2008:

    1. Opeth - Watershed
    2. Nachtmystium - Assassins: Black Meddle Part I
    3. Gojira - The Way of All Flesh
    4. The Faceless - Planetary Duality
    5. Intronaut - Prehistoricisms
    6. Aborted - Strychnine.213
    7. Genghis Tron - Board Up the House
    8. Enslaved - Vertebrae
    9. Bloodbath - The Fathomless Mastery
10.Arsis - We Are the Nightmare

Comments: The first four on my list have all been in heavy rotation since their releases, the chemistry on Watershed just amazes me... And Gojira and The Faceless have finally come into their own. Bloodbath was pure brutality, even if it is a step away from the traditional Swedish Death Metal sound. Both Aborted and Enslaved continue to amaze me as well, along with Genghis Tron and Intronaut putting up solid albums. The ambient, psychedelic, black metal of Nachtmystium just envelops me every time I hear it...

3 albums didn't get into the list but almost: Ihsahn - Angl, Meshuggah - ObZen, Abigail Williams - In the Shadow of a Thousand Suns

Comments: All are fantastic, i just don't get the same enjoyability from subsequent repeat plays that I have from the ten mentioned above.

Best EP, DEMO or MCD of the year: Disappearer - Winter Sessions

Comments: The debut EP forms a post-rock masterpiece (free downloads on their website), following closely behind was Bloodbath, with UTP, and Porcupine Tree - Nil Recurring

Major disappointment of the year: Children of Bodom - Blooddrunk.

Comments: Yeah.... only song I found remotely enjoyable was "Lobotomy"...

    1. Martriden - The Unsettling Dark
    2. Demiurg - The Hate Chamber
    3. Deathspell Omega - Veritas Diaboli Manet in Aeternum
    4. Opeth - Watershed
    5. Amon Amarth - Twilight of the Thunder God
    6. Dead Congregation - Graves of the Archangels
    7. Hammers of Misfortune - Fields/Church of Broken Glass
    8. Bloodbath - The Fathomless Mastery
    9. Facebreaker - Dead, Rotten & Hungry
    10.Putrevore - Morphed from Deadbreath

2 albums didn't get into the list but almost:
    Enslaved - Vertebrae, Aborted - Stychnine 213

    Comments:
Two great albums, but I just didn't listen to them as much as the rest.

Best EP, DEMO or MCD of the year:
Puteraeon - The Requiem & Fascination for Mutilation, Bloodbath - Unblessing the Purity

    Major disappointment of the year:
Metallica's "production", new Bloodbath starting to sound like Aborted,
too much goddamn brootal/blastbeat shit being released instead of classic Death Metal!

Hot damn, a disappointment I completely forgot: Cryptopsy - The Unspoken King.

Bad to a point that I forgot it even came out until Graves of the Fathers came on whilst reading the forum just now.
