One example: "This is clearly photoshopped. You can tell it by the pixels and the shadows are all wrong."

OF COURSE IT'S FUCKING PHOTOSHOPPED, YOU FUCKWIT. THE BABY DIDN'T ACTUALLY DRESS UP AS HITLER.

Interesting to see all the calls to remove Hitler Baby. We did a project in California and I dubbed it Uber Alles (from the dead kennedys song). The name was dropped due to the possibility of it being sensitive with potential European investors. I put my metal hat on and think WTF? If you can't use common language because of some former terrorist regime then the terrorist regime has already fucking won. So too with any images of Hitler, swastikas or goose-stepping hoards of jackbooted, pot-helmet wearing aryans. The point is to know what happened, remember why we hate it and ensure that it never happens again. Hiding it in a closet and never speaking of it again achieves exactly zero.

I think that topic is uber sensetive (excuse the language:D) in a lot of those affected countries (particularly Germany not suprisingly), and that's how they want to deal with it i guess. The Japanese are the same. More of a "lets forget that failure of history" part.

    PS awesome pic above. :DDD

Brendan, you should go to Germany, it helps immensely to understand exactly why Europeans, and Germans in particular, are so unbelievably sensitive about World War II. Germans DO fucking remember it, and every time someone makes a joke about it and they're around to hear it, they're reminded that they're the direct-bloodline descendants of the most horrific nation in the history of the planet. They DO remember, in crystal-clear detail, probably much better than you do, but they don't appreciate people making jokes about how they gassed six million Jews, or about what Mengele did to babies. Its incredibly unfair on them to do that.

Agreed. I have not been to Germany so I do not know what they are thinking. I still have the same opinion for the rest of the world though (which is more than likely the origin of the vast majority of those on that forum calling for hitlerbaby to be removed).

    BTW, the name is Brad!

Bob, i think that the main psychology for a lot of people is to try and forget about bad times in their past and move on (born again christians are a good example), i guess it's the same for nations too. Not too many Americans think very highly of Custer or slave owners.

When you bring up Hitler, they will say something like, Yes Hitler was a very bad man............but he was good for Germany.

You have to remember he did wonders for the country in his early days, hence why so many Germans were able to be led around by him later on.

His rise to power was VERY similar to Augustus'. No wonder he idolised the Roman Empire. For those who are unaware, Augustus was the one who consolidated the Roman Republic from almost obscurity, drove out his rivals over time with politcal influence and persuasion and eventually with state force backed by the Senate which he won over with sheer intellectual politcal prowess (Marc Antony vs. German parties), and then put himself in a position where he had to be placed as the head of state, brought in a single emporer status (rather than dual consuls and senate of the Roman Republic), nueturalised and obscured the Senate and consolidated into the Roman Empire. Difference is, he succeeded for a lot longer. I'd love to do an essay on the similarities.

Are you sure they would say that? Hitler's actions ruined the country, destroyed the economy, left millions homeless, unemployed and poverty-stricken and put half the country in Soviet hands for fifty years. Between 1945 and 1947, Russian occupying forces raped almost every German woman in Berlin. Organised rape gangs would go around rounding up women and brutalising them. It got so bad that eventually Russian officers actually went around summarily executing soldiers involved. Germans are ashamed of what Hitler did to others, but they are remember how he broke their nation.

Enough about Hitler though. I call Godwins on this thread. Let's go back to the pix.
