Been really bored with metal lately. Bolzer is the really only exciting thing I've heard of late.

Also, a lot of people were in college or high school when they started posting, and now have jobs and stuff and don't have the same amount of time.

Also, younger people don't use forums like those in the 25-35 age range did (and UM on twitter would be about worthless.) That's driving the lack of new traffic.

I have lost most interest in posting here, largely because I haven't been able to keep nearly as engaged in metal music as I so fervently was in the first few years of my tenure here. When Social was created, that slowly in turn created two separate communities (though with plenty of crossover), and over the years it seems only a limited set of topics is ever discussed here (guns, women, and the occasional economics duel between Dak and Ein). Otherwise it's become hackneyed and trivial crap.

I apologize that I haven't helped make things more interesting here, but especially this summer I haven't spent nearly as much time on the intrawebs as I used to, and this coming year will be the busiest of my life school/job-wise as I at last take on full duties as a graduate student.

I've debated leaving here entirely, but I've settled comfortably into the routine of checking in here once a day or so just to see if there's anything interesting or if I have anything meaningful to contribute.

Also, I think most people here will agree that there are more efficient and exciting forms of social media available, in which many of the people here mutually partake (e.g. I know most of you on Facebook and communicate with you more often there). It's a convenient blending of all my various social circles into quite the melting pot of ideas and interests.

JAGE aptly titled this thread. Internet fora are dinosaurs.

Basically every ordinary vBulletin/etc-format discussion forum I inhabit seems to be slowing down. Not that there aren't new ones involving new things still popping up, but I think most of the internet has moved to Facebook, 4chan/Reddit, and other such things. And that includes guys that met on a given forum moving their discussions to Facebook.

A UM Facebook group would be the same damn thing as the forum, except on facebook.

Except not everyone's comfortable giving out their personal info via Facebook. I sort of like the anonymity here.

(And here I am five minutes later. Who said this place was dead?)
