Undervalued classics (the titles would be Rocka Rolla and SWoD)

Shame the band lost their way down the road after, say, Stained Class.

    Yes, classics indeed.
    But come on man.....
You mean to tell me Hell Bent, Screaming, and Defenders are NOT classics?

Killing Machine/Hell Bent For Leather is the "dumbing down for corporate rock" transition. I can't name any good songs on it. Screaming and Defenders are pretty good, but British Steel is a hacky abomination of a spiteful group looking down their noses at a GENERICALLY AVERAGE populace.

At least half the songs on Hell Bent for Leather are classics, as is virtually all of British Steel.

WHAT?!!! That's absolutely nutty. I'm sorry but every Priest album has great tunes. A lack of filler generally, apposed to another popular metal band. The only time they really tried to go commercial was during Turbo. Yeah, there is a lot of Priest songs that are catchy but they always were let's be honest. Same thign goes with a lot of metal in those days, especially the NWOBHM era.

Now, as far as those two being undervalued classics, I'll definitely agree to that. SWoD is probably one of the top three Priest albums, after Hell Bent for Leather and Screaming for Vengeance in my opinion.

Yea, I can't really take part in this thread. I enjoy Rocka Rolla and I think that Sad Wings is one of the greatest albums ever written, but goddamn, to say that the rest of their stuff sucks... I mean hell, my fucking radio name when I fill in on the Root Of All Evil is Hell Brent For Leather... That should tell you something about my love of Judas Priest.

Man, I think you'll be quite alone with this statement, cause albums from KM/HBfL to Defenders (save for Point Of Entry) are considered classics by most metal fans...

And for me, while Sad Wings was indeed killer, it was their first excellent albums, Rocka Rolla was just OK and was crushed by almost anything that came after...

Not to get bitchy, but I said Defenders and Screaming ARE good. Only KM/HB4L and BS are suckass corporate rawk pieces of dung. I haven't listened to Point of Entry.

Channeling your inner Misfit claiming your opinions to be fact, eh?:heh:

I can see where looking back you might think BS is corporate rock, but I'd argue that it became so *after the fact* with the overplaying of Living After Midnight and Breaking the Law. Back then, not so much.

And Hell Bent for Leather was NEVER corporate rock and was hardly noticed when it came out. Priest didn't break until later.

If you think those two albums suck, you'll HATE Point of Entry.

I like everything Priest did up to but NOT including DotF. PainKiller is ok.... I grew up with the "old" stuff, so that's what my opinion is based on. Most hated JP release: Turbo (aka Turdbo)
My favorite: Killing Machine/Hell Bent For Leather....Great tunes on Rocka Rolla & Sad Wings Of Destiny, dated guitar tones, which are probably considered vintage right about now.... :)

    Ouch!! Who are you?

I did have that Legends of Metal Judas Priest tribute collection from Century Media, so I know Desert Plains. What else is on there?

Heading out to the Highway, Solar Angels, Don't Go, Hot Rockin' - none of them particularly heavy, nor metal, for that matter. I still like it, though. Check YouTube for the extremely Ghey videos...

JUDAS PRIEST is my second favorite band in the world with IRON MAIDEN holding the top spot. My participation in this thread will not happen. I love PRIEST royally and to post here will only result in war.

Congratulations...you have officially made one of the most inaccurate statements I've ever witnessed on this forum. :Smug:

Quite frankly there isn't a Judas Priest album that I don't enjoy, period. My top picks are Defenders of the Faith and Painkiller.

Speaking of ranking, here is how I would rank my list of Judas Priest albums, them of course being my favorite band.

    1.) Painkiller
    2.) Sad Wings Of Destiny
    3.) Defenders Of The Faith
    4.) British Steel
    5.) Ram It Down
    6.) Sin After Sin
7.) Nostradamus (fuck you if you don't like it, I do :kickass: )
    8.) Screaming For Vengeance
    9.) Stained Class
    10.) Jugulator
    11.) Hell Bent For Leather
    12.) Angel Of Retribution
    13.) Demolition
14.) Point Of Entry (some great songs, just not consistent)
    15.) Turbo
16.) Rocka Rolla (not a bad album, but I don't consider it a Priest album for many reasons)

Go ahead and tell me how wrong I am, I'm sure that's coming.
