I've never liked him, though I must say I'll have to take it all back. He runs fast, he's got control and a playsense, but I think it's a pitty that Henrik has to act amalgam. He's main job now is to fix the holes in the swedish team. He does not get much time to score goals or be dangerous at all.

Hehe I can't believe Sebia/Montenegro lost 6 - 0, thwy weren't that bad. On the other hand, Argentina IS Argentina.

Greta match between Holland and Cote D' Ivoire. The latter fought till the end, but the Dutchs were too much for them :kickass: . Holland had a really good defense, and Cote D'Ivoire doesn't really know how to score a goal, since they had about 20 chances ut did nothing. They seem worse than CR, althought that's hardly possible  .

Mexico vs. Angola was a good match, good for Angola!!! I really didn't want Mexico to win, so I'm happy. Angola was celebrating big time, and they deserve it :) .

So guys, someone please tell me the following things puliiiiz:

    - Cheers in Swedish
    - Cheers in Dutch
    - What you thought of CR (don't  too much :erk: hehe).

I learned Dutch for 8 years, but I cant remember. After a year speaking only English, and now German, I am starting to forget Dutch, and I start to mix English and German now :(
I could tell you how to say cheers in German and Polish (but I am not even sure of the spelling)... thats about it. However i can say "beer" in 6 different languages

I didnt watch any of those 3 matches (shite!), but I had a very good alternative. I cant believe Serbs got beat up so much, maybe it has a lot to do with the fact that they are no longer one country, although they were saying it wouldnt affect their playing.

Heh, that was quite a beating, yes. It's funny because the Argentinians werent THAT good, just the Serbians were really bad, the Argentinians did their thing and with a little added luck it ended 6:0

there is only 1 player from Montenegro in the team of serbia-montenegro, so I don't think that affects their playing ^^

I've only seen the highlights of that game, so I couldn't possibly comment on the level of performance, but the first two goals were fantastic. Quick passing, great movement, and surely they'll end up being two of the best team goals in the tournament.

I think it´s strange that in regular news on the more serious TV-channels, they read the results of football games. So as if "This morning, the British and Indian prime ministers met to discuss Pakistan´s nuclear tests" has equal importance as "at today´s football match, France won against Italy" (or, nationwide, Munich against Hamburg etc). And both is read with an equally grave and serious voice.

I mean, for example, culture (as another leisure to most people) "happens" only when a theatre actor / theatre director / conductor ( = classical music) / author dies. Then that is read in the news, too.
But I never hear things like: "The upcoming European tour of Robbie Williams sold out in ten minutes", or "Today were published the tourdates for Swallow The Sun", or, "at July 1st, Rob Zombie will release his next record"..

But then they read the results of Lotto. Please. Playing Lotto is an addiction like smoking, organized by state-owned (or meanwhile private, I`m not sure) companies.

So yes, how football can take place anywhere else than in sports shows is beyond me, seeing as other big industries, like music or movies, are not covered in the serious news.

It's really only a question of maths. It depends on how many people watch it / are interested and how much money can be made. The coverage in the news is simply proportional to that.

Well, maybe its because football is teh shit!!! What kind of a person are you to post something like that in this very thread?! :p
But seriously, what is so strange about the fact that serious press covers the performance of two national teams in the most popular sport in the world? Believe me, there are stranger things in the world.

    I couldn´t be more on_topic :p

As I said, it´s strange, be it national or international games. Harry Potter is pretty famous, too, and I don´t hear about that in the most serious TV-news in Germany - not sure about CNN. Sure the sports is popular, but so are many other things, and (for Taliesin) generate a lot of money aswell, such as music or some famous books or persons many people are interested in (let´s say Tom Cruise). That the sports in general, stuff like Formula 1 also, is put in the news and thus made equally important as world politics, seems weird.

I´m not saying it´s not interesting or anything, I just wonder about its position or importance, and why it´s not only covered in special shows, like other things are, too.

Unfortunately, Robbie Williams, Tom Cruise, and even Harry Potter all do make the main news headlines here. When they actually do something that is. The World Cup is special in that even lots of people who don't like football are interested in it, at least in England, and so naturally it's in the main headlines. For domestic football you have a point, and I also dislike too many mentions in important sections of the news; and I've been a huge football fan all my life.

Well, it seems the Czechs are fucked. This was the worst performance of their national team Ive ever seen. The match with Italy will be really interesting. Ghana played wonderful football. I have to revise my words about CZ belonging to the top 4.

Hehe and I can say "I love you" in about 30. Not that I remeber them all, of course.

So, do tell me some cheers in Dutch and in Deutsch.

PS: Now that you're syaing that you know Dutch, what does "der vommit" means? I'm not sure if tis written like that, but my "grandma" who is from Holland told me, so tis correct I believe.

Wow, what a game between Ghana and Czech Republic!!!

I can't believe they lost!!! But I guess that goal at 1:45 min. was really discouraging for the team..., damn. Ghana did a good job, although IMO they're not that good, since they should've won about 6 - 0 or something. Czech Rep.'s goalkeeper is reaaaaally good, he was the best one of the game.

Hehe and Ghana missed a penaly, haha loosers, they rea;;y don't know how to score. And thier 2nd goal was an offside, the referee (of the line? Don't know how to say it...), was, as usual, no there.

o_O o_O o_O o_O the macth between Italy and the US is really turning out pretty intersting the score is 1 -1 now (aoutogoal odf Italy   ).

AND DID YOU SEE HOW THAT GUY FROM ITALY HIT THE ONE FRROM THE US??? HOLY SHIT!!! I go with Italy (Avnti squadra azzurra!!!:Smokin: ), but reallly, that was toomuch and it may cost the game to Italy, since tis just the beggining and they;re with ten players only. Anyway, he really desrved it.

I'll go watch the game naked with my girlfriend now :p , lets hope Italy wins. Bye hehe.

    PS: FORZA AZZURRA!!!

Apart from the fact that the Argentinian efforts were quite fast and organised near the net, the Serbian goalkeeper seemed like a big hypnotised ox to me.

@fireangel: here all those topics have their equal share in the news. :p
and anyway, i don't know in which part of the news they talk about sports there, but here it's always in a small separate section in the end of the news, much like the weather. you know, it's sports-news after all. :Smug:
although, if i were to adopt your point of view, i would have to wonder why they talk about the weather in the news at all, since it's none of my interest.

Siren: I wasn´t talking about interest, but comparing the relevance of sports to political news for a serious newsmag (as I believe to have mentioned already..) Weather is alright, it´s useful to know when you go to open air-festivals :p

Today I watched US and A vs Italy in the FIFA Fan Park in the olympic park of munich. great match full of action and strange encounters, the us boys did a good job. I managed to climb onto the tru#ibune without being caught by the guards and cops and had a fantastic view:headbang:
