  1. Just a heads up... In the next week or two we will be making some major upgrades to the site to bring the software and server fully up to date. While the upgrade happens the site will be offline for the day. There will be some quirkiness after the upgrade, but we'll get it all sorted out.

To my shock, I really enjoyed the first two episodes of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. Really testing how rusty my pre-Third Age lore is. In particular Morfydd Clark rules as Galadriel.

i've only seen the first episode but i found it refreshingly untrendy and old-fashioned, although maybe it'll go too far in that direction toward toothless and overly simplistic, idk yet. a GoT-ification of LOTR it ain't, that's for sure.

Yeah the Harfoots in particular have a distinct old-fashioned fantasy feel to them. Reminded me of something you'd see in Willow.

Also glad my guess that the black elf dude won't be just a retarded race swap and he's actually a half-elf human was right. His backstory seems like it's going to be pretty interesting.

    Legolagorn.

But yeah that's my worry too. I'm hoping they lean into his conflict with being half ruler half ruled, racially speaking.

my daughter has unlocked a new level of hatred for Disney I never had before. But as long as “Mickey and Mimi” make her happy I suppose I’ll suffer.

At least with Disney+ you get espn+ I guess.

Badalamenti told NME: “Back when Twin Peaks was kicking off around the world, I flew by Concorde to London to work with Paul McCartney at Abbey Road. He said, ‘Let me tell you a story’. Not long before we met, he’d been asked to perform for the Queen for her birthday celebrations.

“And when he met her, he started to say, ‘I’m honoured to be here tonight, your Majesty, and I’m going to play some music for you’. And the Queen says, ‘I’m sorry, I can’t stay, it’s five to eight, and I have to go and watch Twin Peaks!'”

Another lotr potential copy cat in the latest episode... hopeful it does something better.

The action sequences are shot concisely and effectively , something game of thrones really struggled with

I don't think the action even comes to close to the quality of Game of Thrones.

    actually
i'm thinking some people are gonna think this video belongs here instead of the Horrible TV thread

because if you're into really morbid comedy
Earl Sinclair being responsible for the death of his entire fucking species is kinda the funniest joke of the whole series

I'd say the choreography and cinematography in the Battle of the Bastards is some of the best ever put to television.

Speaking of good TV action choreography. I wish all the Marvelflix shows had a cool one take scene like this.

That's the main thing missing from Luke Cage and Jessica Jones. Good fight choreography.
Because both characters are super strong they just kinda push and throw people around, which gets boring pretty quickly.
