well i can't remember if i used the term 'mtv culture', but the movie is literally about a bunch of teen bimbos who idealise spring break and black gangster culture and sing britney spears etc, so yea

image.jpeg Watched 'Bones Brigade - An Autobiography' again last night and this has gotta be my favourite doco/movie I think. I get so nostalgic seeing the old footage of 'Future Primitive' and 'Animal Chin' and can instantly remember how incredible it was to see those films in the 80's with a group of your skateboard mates of a Saturday, and how awesome it was to see these guys skate on film back then. Rodney Mullen's story especially and hearing him speak is one of inspiring and moving things I've seen on tv, I had no idea of the kind of mental abuse he suffered at home. Watching those old skating films back then ppl only saw his talent and had no idea but it make's sense because there's always been something different about that dude...he was almost not human as far as his ability and what he was able to do on a plank of wood with wheels after hearing him speak about how his father treated him I get the feeling guy is a true artist and that skateboarding for him probably kept him out of the mental institute. Fucking great human being.

Picked up this movie yesterday. I like crime/mob movies and don't think I have seen it before.

    Mullen is the man!

Brian De Palma is a favourite director of mine, he did some great films, Scarface is among them.

I actually re-watched that the other day and liked it even more than I remember. Great cast!

Good stuff. I could watch the movie once in awile. I try and buy movies I can watch more than one time. If I am really bored and don't know what to do watch Scarface. It never disappoints.

That's like me with almost any Clint Eastwood film. Any mood.

Sad to learn of the passing of pioneering French New Wave director Jacques Rivette this morning. The Nun (1967), L'amour fou (1969), Celine and Julie Go Boating (1976), Merry-Go-Round (1981) and La Belle Noiseuse (1991) are incredible films.

Rivette was also one of the very first to publicly stick up for Showgirls (1995) in a now famous interview where he gave his always entertaining thoughts on a number of films, most hilariously when he shit on Titanic (1997).

Went to see that movie The Boy a few days ago. Can't say I watch modern horror movies and only went because like Lauren Cohan. It was decent.

Picked up Deathstalker today based on the Roger Corman connection, fantasy from 1983. Hopefully it doesn't suck too bad.

Going to see The Room next Saturday on the big screen. Tommy Wiseau himself is going to be in attendance and will be doing a live Q&A afterwards. Should be a fun time. I know he does these things pretty often. Have any of you guys ever been to one?

Saw the Martian. Thought it was pretty good until the accident. So basically the first half of the movie was pretty good and then it went steadily downhill until it ended in eyerollingly bad fashion.

I went and saw Goosebumps yesterday, I was the only one in the cinema maybe because the kids have gone back to school, I enjoyed the film and I reckon some scenes would've scared kids.
