Opeth was my first real metal gig, and oh did it rule. In a nutshell... aside from an awesome performance by Noctuary (but only 20 fucking minutes), the New England Hardcore and Metal Festival was absolute shit besides Opeth.
Herrm...I'll try and remember support bands to pad out the list Iron Maiden (five times) Slayer x2 Entombed Halford Seqouyah x3 BLAZE x2 Deep Purple Robert Plant Arthur Brown Whitesnake Quireboys Def Leppard Sum 41 Mighty Mighty Bosstones American Hi-Fi Less Than Jake Capdown x3 The AKAs Amputated Chimeria Arch Enemy Funeral For A Faggot x2 Marilyn Manson InMe Hell Is For Heroes HIM Raging Speedhorn Johnny Truant Hatebreed Mastodon That's all I can remember now. Loads of local bands and small gigs not worth mentioning. I missed Motorhead nothing lined up except anticipation for Iron Maiden and Judas Priest next year!
You've seen CAPDOWN THRICE!!!!!1111 and less than jake oh dear oh dear and teh mighty mighty bossontes.. *Explodes with envy*
Are we listing shows we've been to now? Probably 200+ bands including support acts, no way can I remember them all, or even know what their name was to begin with. Case in point, when I saw Dissection in '96 I didn't know who the fuck they were for about 2 years, when I finally stumbled across an article of that show.
Who I have seen..Long list..ill exclude hair bands from 80's Malevolent Creation - many times Death - x3 at least Obituary - x3 at least Napalm Death Sepultura Nocturnus Deicide Godflesh Death Angel Forbidden Bolt Thrower Entombed Hellwitch Cynic Laaz Rocket Metal Church Devastation Violence Carcass Monstrosity Massacre DBC Athiest Ripping Corpse (All Day Death Festival in Orlando, FL) Testament - x3 Slayer - many times Agnostic Front Evergrey Iced Earth C.O.B Arch Enemy Beyond The Embrace Trivium Cradle Of Filth there is more i'm sure...brain can't recall at moment
I've seen: Strapping Young Lad Devin Townsend Band Zimmer's Hole Moonspell Devildrivel (that spelling error was unintentional, but fitting) Into Eternity x2 Kataklysm I see Dying Fetus and GWAR tomorrow, and Megadeth and Exodus 2 days from now. CSOCRE. Not many concerts come here, and rarely am I interested in them, but Kataklysm + Into Eternity was my first about a year and a half ago. (please bear in mind I came from a retarded little village in the middle of nowhere and only moved to a city last year.)
I still don't believe you, but never mind...Less Than Jake was an accident, actually. All those nights were good fun, I still have very fond memories of my first Capdown gig...the stories from that rival the old beer stealing/bullet belt chesnut
I need to go to a lot more shows. Opeth and Moonspell was the best for me. I wish Vintersorg would organize a Vintersorg/Borknagar/Fission/Havayoth/Otyg joint concert, that would friggin rule all. I'm going to make an effort to go see Cryptopsy with Lord Worm in the spring.
In all seriousness, I enjoy punk/sacore/related genres about as much as extreme metal. Capdown's "Time For Change EP" is killer. Same goes for the "Pound For The Sound" full length. British skacore the way it should be!
Ok, I believe you now ^_^ (don't trust the fools on this forum). Yeah, Capdown are pretty cool at what they do, like I say - great fun live!
I've seen: Malevolent Creation 2x Dio Ohm x2 Joe Satriani x2 Buckethead x4 Fear Factory 5x (1995-1997!When they ruled) Emperor Borknagar Monstrosity Cannibal Corpse Suffocation x2 Dark Funeral Impaled x8 Incantation Immolation x4 Nile x4 Kreator Destruction x3 Metallica Stabbing Westward Testament x6 Obituary Pantera x2 Primus x3 Mayhem x3 Opeth x4 Strapping/Devin Townsend x4 Symphony X x2 Blind Guardian Clutch x5 Deicide x2 Vader Slayer x2 Anathema a bunch more my clogged brain can't remember, and a trillion local bands......
Goddamn, I just got In The Woods... - Live At The Caledonien Hall in the mail today. OMNIO LIVE ALL THE WAY THROUGH YESSSSS This band constantly amazes me. It's a shame that they split, but at least they quit while they were ahead. I would love to have had the chance to experience one of their concerts, however.
Suprised Mike hasn't chimed in with envy over a couple of those bands...or maybe hes seen 'em already.
Here's an obvious one, but there's really no comparsion: Bathory. And one that I have seen but wish I could burn out of my memory: Cradle of Filth. FUCK, what a bunch of boring wankers.
Some, I would take some lives to see Forbidden though... Most of the ones in that list that I want to see but haven't disbanded some 10 years ago or so.
hey J you fancy this one? Primordial, Mourning Beloveth, Scald - Dublin 7th may been in planning for over a year first time our schedules will allow
I've been to almost a hundred concerts, so there's really not that many left that I really want to see. Agalloch, Deströyer 666, Drudkh and Deathspell Omega are obvious choices. Some of the more famous metal bands I've seen: Thrash/heavy/power: Metallica x14 Iron Maiden x7 Slayer x5 Blind Guardian (never again) Iced Earth Kreator Death Angel Exodus Megadeth Death/Melodeath/Melodic Death: At the Gates x3 Dark Tranquillity x3 In Flames x2 Dissection Amon Amarth x2 Opeth x4 Entombed Arch Enemy Death Katatonia x4 (I know they don't fit in this category) Nile Black Metal: Immortal x7 Mayhem x4 Burzum x2 Gorgoroth x3 Windir Emperor x2 Darkthrone Satyricon x4 Dimmu Borgir x4 Vintersorg (I think.) Borknagar The numbers may be a bit off on the some of the bands and I'm leaving out a few...
You would have to ask him. He played live several times in '91 and quite a few split gigs with Mayhem. EDIT: It may have been '90, but I'm not sure...
