But I think the problem with Opeth's music and any other band with death metal elements, is that it attracts too many idiots. Guys who listen to their music just for the kick they get out of the death growls and the heavy parts. It's sad...they don't appreciate the more beautiful side of Opeth.

To be honest it only breaks the rules on this forum, most other band forums on UM don't have any restrictions regarding signature size, so getting at this guy for his signature when he's just making one post to ask about the Opeth boards is pretty ignorant. Besides I don't exactly see how his signature being a few pixels larger than standard "TOTALLY LIKE OMG RUINS MY BROWSING EXPERIENCE".

Not to mention you're completely missing the point for the rule. You should try government work, because that's a group of people who throw common sense out the window to follow rules to the T with no regard for WHY they were created in the first place. Let me demonstrate really fast: While technically breaking the rule, it doesn't cause horizontal scrolling on monitors set to what even my Grandmother would agree is a reasonable resolution. It also doesn't take up the entire screen, nor does it particularly hinder the browsing experience. That there is a little bit more irritating innit? To my recollection, the "rule" was agreed upon due to a number of ridiculously oversized signatures. This is obviously an exaggerated example, but i think it illustrates the point quite clearly. Moving on, just saying that MAYH was one of the best Opeth releases. I never went to that board because it was irritating and Opeth fans in general have an annoying habit of being quite pretentious, but in the end this news is neither here nor there for me. It's a forum, forums have been shut down before and the world keeps on spinning.

The sig thing is a rule that's been established for all forums throughout UM but it's enforced here because the mods actually give a shit. As far as rules that are exclusive to the SX board, airing other forums' dirty laundry is frowned upon and I'm surprised this thread has gone on for as long as it has.
Actually it's a UM-wide rule, it's just up to the owners of the band-owned forums whether they enforce it or not. And if a sig is extra huge & someone posts a lot in one thread, it can indeed get pretty friggin old to look at over & over since it tends to overpower everything else on the page. And I think that's about enough for this thread..thank you, please drive through.
