Star Trek pissed me off. They rebooted the whole thing just so they can fuck it up
Actually it is an alternate universe or timeline to be more accurate, so they could conceivably do more pictures in the Prime universe. Though I doubt they would as this allows them to do things and not be boxed in with all of the inconsistent history Trek has amassed over the years.
burn. but star wars can hardly be considered to have a consistent timeline of its own, especially with its own creator butchering it from time to time.
So they officially announced a few days ago that the new SW movies will not take the EU as official canon, so it pretty much is going to ignore all the books, comics, and video games that have come out in the last 25 years. I already figured as much, but now its official. I think I've accepted this, though not sure what it means for the future of the EU and its own established canon.
The cast was also announced:
Interesting choices. I'm cautiously optimistic.
Kinda gay, but I get it.
I have faith in JJ
As close as we'll ever get to nude Carrie Fisher in her glory days.
They never were considered canon in the first place. At best, they were random side-stories that took place within the Star Wars universe that didn't stray too far off into the realms of absurdity. This would be like getting pissed that a tribute band didn't get recognition some fans felt they deserved just because they added their own spin on someone else's creation.
This news is also not surprising, and it seems like they wanted to keep the series in its "purest" and most mainstream form. Most people that are going to see the new trilogy, have probably seen the previous two, but haven't played every Star Wars game, or read every comic or novel ever written. Most probably haven't even had any contact with the franchise outside of the movies and toys. The fact that some of the original characters and cast are returning is some of the biggest fan service anyone could have asked for anyway.
On a side note, I'm happy to see John Boyega is in this. It's about time the young Denzel look-alike was in another decent (*we hope) movie.
No amount of gritty roots and practical effects will make this movie good with JJ Abrams at the helm.
But, I'm still really excited to see the old actors together again.
Hay guys what's going on?
Oh nothing much.
Did you hear that JJ Abrams fucking sucks, and everything he's ever worked on is trash? I mean, it's the hip thing to bitch about now and everyone is doing it, so it must be true!
Nope, never knew that, I guess all of the shows that he's done that I thought were extremely good were all really shit and all of the critics were completely wrong. Thanks for letting me know!
Is it hip to bash Abrams or something? I seriously didn't know. I hated Lost from day one.
Well, if hating Abrams makes me a hipster, then lock me up and throw away the key. He fucking sucks.
You hated Lost. Did you also hate:
Mission Impossible 3
Star Trek ?
If you hated every single show on that list, then I'm not sure why I should care about your opinion at all. You would obviously just hate quality programs. I guess that's Kvlt though, so totally understandable.
As soon as it was announced that he was going to be making the first Star Trek, the internet was ablaze with ridiculous hate. After it was finished, the hyperbole grew to impossibly stupid levels, and almost all anyone would talk about was lens flares. After that, apparently everything he's ever done sucks.
Group Polarization at its best.
Bump for the fucking rad new teaser.
The cinematic style is fucking on POINT. CGI seems tastefully done. Color me excited.
yeah, saw that yesterday too. At least a good new Star Wars?
Same here. I think this is what we've been waiting for.
Still though, no Vice Admiral Thrawn.
So far all of the leaks have proven to be true.
So if they continue to prove true, this is Luke Skywalker.
Evil Cyborg Luke? God yes. But that's probably too dark for a Disney movie.
If not, perhaps it's Max Von Sydows character who is supposed to be someone hardcore fans will know from earlier movies, and is not Boba Fett. Hmm.
Behold the R2-D2 plane
I got them
