I don't remember Captain Planet. I do remember Banana man and that was pretty terrible. But you're right some cartoons are better left for kids. Thankfully both my kids have out grown fucking Peppa Pig now. But we still watch Bluey together.
animated shows growing up: 1) the simpsons 2) digimon 3) x-men 4) south park 5) pokemon honourable mentions for ren and stimpy and taz-mania and wacky races and the moomins and shit
Makes me cringe to think about some of the dumbass shows I loved as a kid. Scooby-Doo, Where Are You was one of my favorites. Also loved this bullshit, purely because it had the Mario Bros in it: On the other hand I've revisited Ren and Stimpy and Beavis and Butt-Head as an adult, and still love both. There's a few others I might like as an adult (Doug, Courage the Cowardly Dog, anything by Genndy Tartakovsky), but I haven't tried yet.
I was gonna list South Park too but for some reason I felt like 1999 was a bit late to saying "growing up" even though I was 11.
lol fair. i think i was into south park before x-men though tbh courage the cowardly dog is pretty great but i’ve only watched it as an adult. i compiled a rym list a while back of all the kids shows i watched as a child, obviously british centric but we had tons of american stuff too
Holy shit I forgot all about Babar. I think I used to hate that show back then but when my son was way younger he used to watch those on VHS and I didn't hate it. Also Arthur. <3 Edit: Count Duckula! This is a nostalgia trip dude.
5 fav Dayglo Abortions songs: 1. Dream Date of the 90's 2. Isn't This Disgusting 3. Big Ass Truck 4. Bedtime Story 5. After All These Beers 5 fav Eagle Twin songs: 1. Crow Hymn 2. Snake Hymn 3. And It Came to Pass That Birds Fell to Earth as Black Snakes 4. Carry On, King of Carrion 5. Murder of... Funny thing is I haven't seen all of it so I should fix that. It was a Hanna-Barbera thing. Wikipedia says it was combined with segments of the Secret Squirrel remake, but if I remember correctly, the episodes aired sparingly as an addition to the The Atom Ant/Secret Squirrel Show as well. I don't remember the TV listings here ever having "2 Stupid Dogs" as the title. I haven't seen all the eps of the other shows I listed either of course, nor some of my other fav TV shows for that matter. I guess faves can hold a kind of mythical status and it's kinda fun to procrastinate on seeing them properly. I was 13 or 14 when South Park arrived here and watched that religiously from the start for a bunch of seasons, and SpongeBob came along even later than that. Still counting that as "growing up"!
the only episode of 2 stupid dogs i remember is one of them spends the entire episode searching for his bone, which is on his head.

It's weird how much hype it's getting when it felt like their debut went under a lot of radars. But it is a twisted fucking disgusting monster of an album, so...

Cities I've seen the most live shows/concerts/music festivals in: 701 ... Auckland, NZ 100 ... Wellington, NZ 20 ... Melbourne, Australia 16 ... Hamilton, NZ 8= ... Christchurch, NZ 8= ... Tauranga, NZ Saw my 100th in Wellington last night. I've lived near Wellington for about a third of my gig-attending life, but my gig addiction didn't really take off until I moved to Auckland so that's way ahead (plus it's bigger so it's got more worth going to).
Top 5 Netflix original movies (in no particular order): 1. The Other Side of the Wind 2. Mank 3. Marriage Story 4. Roma 5. Uncut Gems
(in order) 1. I'm Thinking of Ending Things 2. Hold the Dark 3. Roma 4. The Irishman 5. Marriage Story I haven't seen The Other Side of the Wind yet and Uncut Gems isn't a Netflix Original btw, it's A24.
I guess The Irishman would replace Uncut Gems on my list then. I'm surprised you liked I'm Thinking of Ending Things so much - I love Kaufman but I found it too alienating and self-conscious and not in a good way like Synecdoche.
