I'm off to Indonesia again tomorrow. I can't afford it in the slightest, so am a tad annoyed we're already booked to go, but things will hopefully be ok. We're just going back so the in-laws can see the baby.
Leave for the US of A to attend 70,000 Tons of Metal in 16 days! Picked up all our accommodation vouchers, plane tickets, etc last week so all good to go now. Still waiting for the 40th and final band to be announced - hoping for something I like but not too fussed as I already want to catch at least half the bands once if not twice on the cruise.
Anyone travelled to Perth by plane recently? Am going in a couple of weeks and want to know what the plane rides are like these days (travelling with Qantas) and if planes have such things as power points for computers and how much room can I expect in my seating area. Can't remember the last time I travelled in a passenger plane, so am curious to know what changes have been made in that time to local flights. Other thna all that security bullshit.
I can't recall correctly but probably not unless you're in first class. The back of seats does have a USB port. You will get movies on demand which is cool but it's subject to what they have uploaded. It does include music, sitcoms, etc. s
Cheers, mate, but think I'll stick with my little lappy and my 2 external HDs for entertainment. Just wish I could charge it whilst flying.
You won't get shit unless you're in first class, unfortunately. QANTAS does give you free food and drinks (to a degree) so it's got some perks over the other budget carriers (although you are paying for it in the ticket price), but that's about it. Space wise, we actually found there seemed to be a little LESS space than some Virgin and Jetstar flights, but the plane we were on recently was a bit smaller so that would explain that. For a flight going to Perth, you'd be on a decent sized jet so while it's not what you'd call roomy, the space is going to be decent. Pretty boring flight, though, to tell the truth. The view over the middle of Australia is pretty neat though. The wallpaper on my video editing machine is a pic I took at 39,000 feet of a moonrise coming up over the horizon while we were half way back and it looked pretty cool. But other than stuff like that, it's 5 hours of "come on, are we there yet?"
I usually get so engrossed in the movies that every hour or so I look up and think, 'shit, I'm on a plane' s.
Cheers for the info, Tim, had pretty much figured that but good to have confirmation. Any chance of posting that pic here too?
And the 40th band on 70,000 Tons is.... CIRCLE II CIRCLE! So this is the final 40 bands, in order of preference for me. As every band plays twice, I'd like to catch bands 1-15 twice, 15-29 I'd like to see at least once, then 30-40 I don't care too much about. Pretty damn good strike rate though FLY OUT TWO WEEKS FROM TODAY!! 1- Epica 2- Iced Earth 3- Sonata Arctica 4- Dark Tranquillity 5- Blind Guardian 6- Gamma Ray 7- Ensiferum 8- Amon Amarth 9- Sabaton 10- Circle II Circle 11- Saxon 12- Tyr 13- Korpiklaani 14- Finntroll 15- Rage 16- Trouble 17- Raven 18- Nevermore 19- Agent Steel 20- Swashbuckle 21- Destruction 22- Testament 23- Fear Factory 24- Sanctuary 25- Uli Jon Roth 26- Voivod 27- Moonspell 28- Sodom 29- Cripper 30- Blackguard 31- Malevolent Creation 32- Dusk Machine 33- Obituary 34- Death Angel 35- Witchburner 36- Unleashed 37- Exodus 38- Forbidden 39- Twilight of the Gods 40- Marduk
Absolutely FINAL lineup for 70,000 Tons is the addition of a couple of death metal bands - THE ABSENCE and ARSIS. We leave friday! Cannot wait - will be good to escape Brisbane for a few weeks
If you get a chance check out the last two bands and Exodus. Exodus put on a fantastic show, even if you aren't familiar with their material.
Will do Nebulous! Thats the brilliant part about this cruise - every band plays twice, and the organisers are going to ensure that no two bands play at the same time twice. So I should easily be able be every band I want to, at LEAST once. Fuck this is gonna rule
For the pair of us its prob. gonna set us back $7k each, but we're staying in one of the expensive suites on the boat, plus having an extra 10 days in the US, going to Universal Studios in Orlando, etc It is our belated honeymoon after all For a single person I reckon you would need about $3,000 tops. $1,500 - return flight sydney-miami $800 - room on the boat in the cheapest room ($US666 room, $US249 taxes, less 10% discount if you use this code OXTNXFJB) $??? - extra for merch and alcohol on ship (food, juice, tea and coffee all covered in the room cost)
That sounds really good value for money. 30 bands at $40 is almost half of the total cost without the holiday included. I'll definitely have to keep that in mind for my next travel holiday. Have a great time Dallas!
