    I'm not sure.

Personaly.. As Torches Rise is my favourite song.. and Battle Metal is my second.. but The Dnieper Rapids is my third... and i think after that, most of the songs from The Varagian Way beat songs from Battle Metal..

Theyre both merged too much to decide which is best.

"battle metal" and "one more" pretty much got me into folk metal but "to holmgard and beyond" sounds so good:headbang:

I think from the new album, To Holmgård and Beyond is the most similar in style to the 'Battle Metal' album compared to the rest from The Varangian Way.

after my review, I now got the chance to do an (email) interview with Turisas.
If some of you have interesting questions, feel free to send them by PM.
If they are interesting enough (yes, I'm deciding, hehe) and I didn't already asked them, I'll add them in a special "fan question section"

    let's roll!

Battle Metal by a huge margin. Both albums are excellent.

Ask them if they can make their next album be about a battle between Vikings and Ninjas...

...and Pirates thrown in for good measure.

    =D

Actually I'll PM you too if it's not too late.

I totally agree. TVW was an absolute delight and an album I really enjoy listening to, with great songs like Holmgard and Beyond and Fields of Gold. But Battle Metal just has that much more. My top Turisas songs are all from BM repectively.

For me TVW is the clear winner. I absolutely love BM as well but TVW is a more cohesive record and as an entity it is the winner in my book.
