Brissy crowds can be hard to win over because they have so many of their own fucking amazing bands, but if you keep going back there they will love you.
Mine is 400 watts. To put that into perspective, one of my computers is 600 watts, and I usually have 2 going all day and a laptop, and several LCD monitors too. With the amount of time I actually watch TV, even on a rare big day of TV watching, I'd be lucky to have it on for more than 6 hours in a single day - if that - so it's fairly economical when you compare it to other stuff you might use for longer.
Is your PSU 600 watts, or is that the actual usage. I think most people assume that because their max usage limit for their power supply is 600w, that's how much they constantly use. You'd be surprised how little power a pc actually uses if you're not gaming or stressing the cpu/video card constantly
The thing is, for me I am usually... when you run a DAW, it maxes out the CPU to make it available for the audio engine, so in my case it actually is 600 watts so long as my recorder is running. But yes, valid point - if the computer is just sitting there, it won't need to draw on much power from the PSU.
I like finishing yet another site I was commissioned to re-code: http://www.thegripshop.com.au/ All nicely database driven now so any future updates will take literally 2 minutes to do, so it was worth the fucking around to convert it all over. Yay! Check out the list of films this guy has worked on - pretty amazing stuff!!
BAHAHA! Oh man, I so should leave it like that! See what you get for not proofreading the documents people give you?
I like Blackfeather, god Australia had some epic bands back in the 70's, damn shame i wasn't alive then oh and also like i've finally booked my trip to Europe
I'd say for the same large sized CRT TV, you'd be looking at HEAPS more power consumption to a plasma or LCD. I don't have any figures off-hand - anyone got any actual facts?
Theres one comparison. Then you have to look at such equation as... well you will have the PC on 24 hours a day, and the plasma only 4... and suddenly the PC is using a lot more power.
Have you had a look at this site ...http://www.aztecmusic.net/ it has some awesome Aussie Bands including Blackfeather . and the best of all BUFFALO .. what are they like ...
I have to admit guilt in surfing the net while the TV is on in the background. So from an energy perspective the LCD is the greener of the two. What are the pros and cons? I hear plasma TV's are the way to go if you want a big screen but don't last as long and only to be left on for a few hours per day. When I was living with the family the TV was on all day and most of the night, there was always someone watching something. Is a rear projection TV a CRT TV or those ones with the three lights (red, yellow & green) that project onto a flat white screen like a movie projector? s
That whole lasting longer argument between LCDs and Plasmas, and screen burn is basically out the window now with new technology coming in. As far as i'm aware plasma just produces a better, sharper image at size. In regards to rear-projection: it's this process inside a tv set:
LCD's and Plasma's of today are about equal in power consumption. Power ratings on the back of things is usually what they can handle at a maximum. Not what they produce. A 400W PSU in a PC can deliver up to 400W of power if the items in the PC call for it. It doesn't draw 400W of power continuously. Current LCD TV's draw the same amount of power as a CRT. The difference is, both devices draw such a vast range of current. It's never an even 135W for example. But as an average, it evens out to be the same. pips
I like cool rainy days in Singapore, and that I am finally doing some exercise after 3 years of apathy.
I need to exercise.. it's sort of like meditation. Love to get a bit in at least each day. I LOVE TAX COMING THROUGH!
