I have to agree to that as well as upgrading phones each year, etc. I won a Panasonic (Blockbuster promo) in 2002, so it was free, it still works perfectly, I have a compact camera so I don't see a need in getting a new phone that shoots, flips, flops, etc. The latest on iPhones is that people are finding out they have just spent a fortune on browsing. Something about the GPS not staying in memory and you have to download it each time costing big $$$. s
Haha for an IT guy I'm a plebe when it comes to phones. All I want it to do is ring FCS - all the other shit just drains the batteries faster. If you can also make it smaller I'm happy- but I only upgrade when the old one dies. People expect me to make their blackberries work- personally I find the blackberry system extremely painful and archaic, as though it was put together in a garage at 4am and kicked and beaten until it works sortof... mind you, the last time I used windows mobile- based devices to sync with exchange the experience wasn't too pleasant either. Microsoft, why the Fuck did you not allow mobile devices to use a windows server certificate to sync and instead force customers to go to the hassle and expense of a premium certificate? Were you deliberately trying to cripple your product sales? Idiots.
I think with phones, it's all about what you'd use them for. I'm a bit of a tech fan so I'd be wanting to upgrade to something cool every now and then so I could play with it, but the reality is I just can't justify spending the money on a "toy" unless I need it. In my case, having a phone with GPS, good quality camera that also captures DVD resolution video, has the net (for web/IM/email), and all of the other great things an N95 can do, has been invaluable for when I've been on the road and trying to either find out where the hell we are, or manage something back here when I'm not in front of the computer. I can mod the forum from Siberia, you know. HAHA! After lugging a laptop around the world in 2005, if I can replace most of what I'd be using that for with something that fits in my pocket, I'll absolutely do that!
Having a 3G phone has been great, for it enables me to see if I've got any emails without turning my computer on. I wouldn't get a phone that doesn't have that capability now.

We went to dinner last night for Jess' 21st at a restaraunt in Oxford St. Turned out one of the entertainers for the night was a bellydancer Jess has performed with before. He got her up mid-act.... it was funny to see her get more attention then he was. Probably helped by the fact that the two tables closest to us where full of lesbians haha
There's a couple that go around at the moment... they charge HUGE amounts because they're "unique". For example.... this guy also dances at a restaraunt that Jess does... he gets away with charging almost double what she can
