We need another World War to sort out the population issues.

who ever is left standing gets it all, even if it is a terrible wasteland of toxic horrors. :kickass:

    Or a holocaust....

It's basic human nature to be selfish. People seem to be unwilling to exercise their power of choice in the matter.

A world war wouldn't thin out the rich.

    Great piece, Brad. Bravo.

Bah, I wish I didn't believe it. People don't seem to realise that the last time we had a challenge this big - the great depression, far, far more people were NOT reliant on others (or indeed complicated systems of people and equipment) for producing their food and water. If there were a similar trigger again, people in cities would be eating each other in short order. I hope we're in "too big to fail" land, like some of our banks are supposed to be...

 I'm already watching this similar show:

Perhaps the USA will fail first, and if they don't take the rest of us with them, we could learn from their mistakes (hah).

Some more selfish than others. Even if we had all the technology we needed to face these problems, chances are there'd still be assholes controlling it and hoarding the profits. It's hard to care or know how to make a difference when we're part of such a complex system. Regardless, at least we have the trends of technology and intelligence on our side.

Lost a friend saw some old ones , and mate a few new ones as well, fuk I miss the bush at times. Had a great day watching the Grenfell Panthers play Cudal Cobras, Panthers one 81-12 , oh and drank a fare bit of piss as well.... :

For those who liked my earlier rants on sustainability, these two articles are priceless, particularly the second one... gloss over the math and read the conclusions, plus the chart commentary and its caveats... hold on to your hats folks!

    http://physics.ucsd.edu/do-the-math/2011/07/galactic-scale-energy/

    http://physics.ucsd.edu/do-the-math/2011/07/can-economic-growth-last/

One of the things about economic growth is that in the past 50 years since the advent of futures and trading exchanges, we are actually trading in things that do not exist. Leverage upon leverage upon leverage creates and destroys massive fortunes on paper every day. Did you know that it is actually possible to trade in market volatility? Yes! you can buy and sell it on the US futures exchanges. Bizarre. How do you take delivery of volatility besides telling your wife her arse is fat in those pants...? What is most concerning is that without growth our global economy fails. A classic example of this is Japan- in the late 80s, property, labour and just about everything there became too expensive resulting in stagnation and occasionally stagflation. Japan has yet to recover from this and the effects of an aging population. Remember by 2050, 40% of the global population will be over 60.

Yeah, I'd seen that before. Doubt it will make a whole lot of difference. Call me greedy but I don't think the world needs LESS women!

12 million out of over a billion is just a drop in the ocean but it doesn't slow down the growth, the more financial men are leaving the country to hook up with women in Aus., USA, UK, etc. and it's the poorer that are the heavy breeders.

The good thing about modern technology is that rather than staying up for it, I can either record it or just use that playlist and search for the ones that look appealing on YouTube. :)

I used to lose so much sleep due to Rage. Now there's thankfully no need. Here's something from the playlist above:
