As long as you got your stapler back, everything will be fine.

I went to the dentist two days ago, I was in the chair for an hour. The dentist was quite short, so I was actually tilted backwards, my head lower than my chest. And there was all kinds of drills and water-spraying things filling my mouth and making it hard to breathe. It was very much like water-boarding. It wasn't nearly as intense of course (from what I've read), but I was feeling very anxious by the end. It has to do with nitrogen pooling in the lungs I believe.

When you are waterboarded, you are also blindfolded. Because the water is being poured directly onto your head, and you can't see, your body instinctively reacts by tightening the trachea to stop water getting in. It can cause you to stop breathing. If you've ever almost stopped breathing while conscious, you know how that can make you instinctively panic. It's unavoidable. Do that to a person a few times, and they will admit to anything.

    But it's not torture, apparently.

True, some forms of torture are worse than others.

Be sure- be VERY fucking sure that it does not contain asbestos. Particularly if you're renovating around the bathroom the shit that looks like masonite and isn't even "fibrous" at all can contain asbestos. If you're demo'ing stuff, don't cut anything with powertools and use a mask. Seriously.

Nah no asbestos in the house. It was the first question we asked before we bought it (as we knew that we'd be renovating at some point). It's only 15 years old so no real danger

Kind of annoyed that the FB relationship status is like a precursor to the dreaded "I love you, do you feel the same". It gives women more things to be pissed off at you about when you don't quite agree.

That my 1 TB external HD shat itself before I could back up stuff.

Have a new Go Flex 2 TB but nothing to put on it until the check disk scan finishes and I can see what I can get back.

So pissed because that's years of personal stuff, mainly anime and pseudo porn, that I had stored there.

Speaking of back-ups... for the first time in my life, I actually remembered to be TWO hard drives on my latest purchase. One for live and one purely for backup. I've been stung too many times by using old drives to backup the newer ones

There are data recovery services- charges from about $400 to $2k depending on what is required. If you've a lot of irreplaceable photos etc. on there that might be worth a look, but for stuff you can re-download it's probably not worth it.

I have a pair of WD 320's - one I cart with me most places (the definitive copy) and I sync it to another 320 at work and my home PC. Am I anal or what?!?!!! Soon time to move to 1Tb though...

I've found a trail version of a program that seems to be working.

Will just take forever to do.

Physically it seems fine, just all the data within it.
