    THEOCRACY: DEBUT ALBUM TO BE RE-RELEASED

    The debut album from the Athens, Georgia-based melodic metal band THEOCRACY will be re-released through Ulterium Records. The album was originally released through Metal Ages Records in 2003, and is nowadays very rare and hard to find. No release date is set for the re-release yet, but more information and updates will follow.

    Theocracy vocalist Matt Smith comments on the re-release;
    "A lot of people ask us how to get the debut Theocracy album, which is long out of print. Well, you won't have to wait much longer, because it's going to be re-released through Ulterium Records! We went through a lot of discussion about how much we wanted to rework it: Do we re-record the whole thing with the new lineup? Do we just release it as-is? There were a lot of ways we could go, but ultimately we decided that people love that album and it's a snapshot in time, so we didn't want to completely redo something people are attached to. We'd rather present the best-sounding version we can of what's already there, with one change that seemingly everyone wants to hear: real drums! Shawn's going to record drums to the tracks that are already there, and then I'm going to remix it, so it should be killer.

    Right now I'm going through the tracks and trying to get everything organized and usable (some of those recordings were really bad!), and soon we'll be ready for Shawn to lay down the drum tracks. Keep checking in, and we'll keep you posted as it unfolds!"

    The latest Theocracy album "As The World Bleeds" was released in Europe on November 25th through Ulterium Records, in North America on November 21st through Nightmare Records and in Japan on April 25th through King Records.

    "As The World Bleeds" debuted at #40 in the Billboard Heatseekers Chart during the first week of release.

    Stoked. And slightly apprehensive. Theocracy has never disappointed before but if it's not broke, don't fix it... I don't like change.:(

    It's not a change, more of an augmentation...the drums weren't real and the band matured as a whole. It's not like they're adding autotune.

    I might as well set expectations up front: they're not planning any bonus tracks at this time.

    Plus, I don't think they could legally release the Neal Morse cover outside of Japan when this comes out. It'll likely be over a year (we had to wait 3 for Wages of Sin).

    Gee, Aletheus brings it up *now*, after you've already redone the whole album that way. Back to the drawing board :(

    Honestly, I would like redone vocals because Matt has really gotten better and better. On the first album, his words weren't nearly as clear as they are now. Plus, some of the group vocals kinda sound iffy (mainly in "The Serpent's Kiss" chorus)

    But I can't wait to get this re-release. I have the original, but it doesn't have the original case :mad:

    Glad to hear that this is underway. I'll definitely be looking forward to it, and I'm happy that a lot more people will be able to hear it.

    I can't be the only one disappointed it didn't go into the chorus?

    I am definitely looking forward to hearing the re release. Shawn is a beast on drums (realized that even more so after seeing/hearing them live). Speaking of autotune, I think Matt should have his cat do some autotune stuff for this release :)
