At Gigantour a few weeks ago, there were some kids rocking out the entire show, but what did they do during In Flames? They fell asleep. Not an exciting band at all!

Well, you're not going to tell me, or an In Flames fan that was there from the beginning, that they've put out good albums the last few years, compared to the first 4-5 albums. It's a shame, I know they couldn't have forgot how to play, or what got people into them back in 95'-96'

I'm fan from the begging and In Flames have evolve, you cannot ask to a band to make the same thing again and again, I'm please with what they have done and continue to do, If you don't like what they do know, stay with your Jester Race and Lunar Strain and forget the new fantastic stuffs and leave it to US :)

haaaaaahahahaha the tour they had in america with slipknot is when they started to turn into a more commercial band. From that tour on they just wanted to make $$$. clayman was aiight, Reroute was good too but only for five or so listens : )
I think it's ander's fault! Jesper isnt magical anymore.........If any of you are real fans you know what the solo from "The Hive" is. Where did the band that wrote that solo go? They lost the swedish feel. for shame

Why is it Anders fault? You seem to forget who writes the majority of In Flames songs. Hint: It's not Anders.

VeN, I don't get your argument. Why again is it Anders "fault" that the band "changed"? The sound has changed slowly and progressively since Colony and the new lineup. Colony was when they started using clean vocals, synths, loops etc. And who writes the songs? That's right, Björn & Jesper, Anders does the lyrics and the vocal melodies. And don't tell me that only the vocals have changed, and not the guitar work, 'cause that would be absurd.
I like the new sound aswell, but I think that both ASOP and CC are monotonous (is that the word?) repeating the same structure over and over again, they gotta change up that a bit. Otherwise I quite like it, but they can do better.

The "it's Anders fault" argument has existed ever since Anders got dreads back during the R2R era. It's stupid, and deserves no more mention.

Jesper and Bjorn are the main creative forces in In Flames. Try again.

Anders gets alot of the heat because he's the frontman. He tries to be the charismatic head of the band who's in most of the media spotlight. He bounces around on the stage like a tool at concerts, has the dreadlocks and generally dresses like a moron (really what was with those socks in the CC tour?). He's involved with like 90% of the band's interview. Plus, alot of the melodic guitar harmonies that were signature of the earlier albums have been replaced with his nasally off-key clean vocals. Is there any surprise that he gets alot of the blame? Of course, not even close to being the only one to blame. Jesper and Bjorn would not go along with these ideas if they didn't agree with them nor are they guilt free as they have clearly dumbed down their own work as well. Everyone in the band is to blame since several members have said time and time again, that the music writing process has been democratic. However, Anders being in the spotlight makes him more of a target regarding the new sound since he has spoken more about the band's style changes compared to Jesper who hasn't done an interview since like 99.

(note: I don't hate new In Flames. I think it is a definately several cuts below their earlier material. With that said I have listened to ASOP probably over 50 times by now so it's not so bad).

You are correct that Anders being in the spotlight has caused him to take the brunt of the blame, this does not, however, mean it is in any way his fault the band decided to evolve. Bjorn does a fair amount of interviews as well, yet one never sees him getting any blame. Fans don't seem to mind that Jesper never speaks to them or does interviews, whereas he did a few years back. With Bjorn and Jesper being the two main creative forces in the band, it's up to them really to explain In Flames evolution. Anders can only repeat the same lines so many times.

Anders is just a really easy target.
