Just in case you weren't feeling too old today, this will certainly change things. Each year the staff at Beloit College in Wisconsin puts together a list to try to give the faculty a sense of the mindset of this year's incoming freshmen. Here's this year's list:

The people who are starting college this fall across the nation were born in 1987.

They are too young to remember the space shuttle blowing up.

Their lifetime has always included AIDS.

Bottle caps have always been screw off and plastic.

The CD was introduced the year they were born.

They have always had an answering machine.

    They have always had cable.

They cannot fathom not having a remote control. (what do you think they would do if the saw the old antennas?)

Jay Leno has always been on the Tonight! Show.

Popcorn has always been cooked in the microwave. (I have seen Jiffy Pop back on the market though. How cool was that?)

They never took a swim and thought about Jaws.

They can't imagine what hard contact lenses are.

They don't know who Mork was or where he was from.

They never heard: "Where's the Beef?", "I'd walk a mile for a Camel", or "de plane, Boss, de plane".

They do not care who shot J. R. and have no idea who J. R. even is.

McDonald's never came in Styrofoam containers.

They don't have a clue how to use a typewriter.

Do you feel old yet? :yell:

Just think, if the electricity goes out these kids are lost...:tickled:

LMAO! Even though I am a '79 baby I can still relate to some of the stuff on there... It took me until 1995 to switch from my casettes to CD's for one.

OK let's see. When I was a kid:

    • TV was B&W
    • I saw the man landing on the moon
    • The Berlin Wall was standing up
    • Muslims were alright and Communists were the bad guys
    • The Beatles were hip
    • Janis, Hendrix, Morrison just died
    • NWOBHM was not yet born
    • There was no PC (and no Windows yipee!)
    • No VCRs
    • No DVDs
    • No CDs
    • 8-tracks and open reels were cool
    • No AIDS haunting the world (the worst STD was syphillis)
    • Gas was cheap
    • There was no rap, hip-hop, trance or fucking Britney
    • Watches were all analog
    • No pocket calculators
    • Phones have to be actually dialed no button pushed
    • There was no cell phones
    • There was no bars in windows
    • Children could play in the streets safely
    • Vietnam war was fought at the time
    • There was no metrosexuality
    • No one dare to come with a reality show
    • Batman was a hit
