This is gonna be impossible, but I'll bite. 1 from each band: #1: Sword - Metalized In no order: Maiden - Piece of Mind Priest - Defenders Metallica - Ride Megadeth - Peace Sells Dio - Holy Diver Skid Row - S/T GNR - Appetite Queensryche - Mindcrime --------- Had to mention -------- White Lion - Big Game Sabbath - Heaven and Hell QR - Rage PC69 - S/T Kiss - Creatures of the Night Sooooo many left off.
Indeed, very difficult....but I'll take a stab (with 1 album per band): 1) Sabbath - Heaven & Hell 2) Maiden - Piece of Mind 3) Metallica - Master 4) Dio - Holy Diver 5) Priest - British Steel 6) Ozzy - Blizzard 7) Mercyful Fate - Oath 8) Fates Warning - Awaken the Guardian 9) Overkill - Years of Decay 10) Badlands - S/T I'm sure I've overlooked dozens of others.
yeah this is impossible....I'll try not to duplicate bands. In no order... King Diamond - Abigail Loudness - Thunder in the East Accept - Metal Heart Queensryche - Rage for Order Iron Maiden - Powerslave Metallica - Master of Puppets Fates Warning - Perfect Symmetry Flotsam and Jetsam - No Place for Disgrace Yngwie - Marching Out Dokken - Back for the Attack
Just heavy metal and thrash (not death, black or hard rock) maybe it could be: 1. Queensryche: Operation Mindcrime 2. Riot Thundersteel 3. Savatage Gutter Ballet 4. Crimson Glory Transcendence 5. Candlemass Nightfall 6. Black Sabbath Heaven & Hell 7. Barón Rojo – Volumen Brutal 8. Accept – Restless and wild 9. Leatherwolf – Street Ready 10.Slayer . Reign in blood Maybe tomorrow I´d change some of them.
Best metal era, absolutely impossible but let's do as Brandon #1 Black Sabbath - "Heaven And Hell" In no order: Iron Maiden - "Piece of Mind" Judas Priest - "Defenders Of The Faith" Thin Lizzy - "Chinatown" Deep Purple - "Perfect Strangers" Saxon - "Power & The Glory" Motorhead - "Ace Of Spades" Rush - "Signals" Helloween - "Keeper Of The Seven Keys Part II" Candlemass - "Nightfall" Coroner - "No More Color" plus a 1000 more I left out P.S. I know I ended with 11, I may leave out Candlemass since already have Black Sabbath, but that is an essential doom album.
Adramelch - Irae Melanox Candlemass - Epicus Doomicus Metallicus Exodus - Bonded By Blood Fates Warning - Perfect Symmetry Iron Maiden - Killers Metallica - Ride the Lightning Queensryche - The Warning Realm - Endless War Savatage - The Hall of the Mountain King Watchtower - Energetic Disassembly Approximately, at least.
80's Bathory is more kvlt than good and Slayer can't write an album without gradually declining half-way through.
Well, Top 10 Most Personally Enjoyable... 1. Anthrax - State Of Euphoria (For whatever reason, I just enjoy it more then Among The Living) 2. Sepultura - Beneath The Remains 3. Blind Guardian - Battalions Of Fear 4. Slayer - Show No Mercy 5. Exodus - Bonded By Blood 6. Helloween - Keeper of the Seven Keys, Pt. II 7. Death Angel - The Ultra-Violence 8. King Diamond - Abigail 9. Metallica - Kill Em All 10. Venom - Black Metal

no particular order: AC/DC- Back In Black Riot-Fire Down Under Michael Schenker-Assault Attack Metal Church-S/T Judas Priest-British Steel Black Sabbath-Heaven and Hell Ozzy-Blizzard Ozzy-Diary Metallica-Kill Em All Queensryche-Warning
80's Bathory rules (aka is good) and influenced half the music anyone talks about on this forum, and Slayer's first 3 albums were pretty consistently good. I mean what with Reign in Blood starting off with Angel of Death/Piece by Piece and ending with Postmortem/Raining Blood, I don't see how there's a decline either way.
Yes; it's not Irae Melanox but still very good traditional/power. I'm a huge sucker for the MIDI-thin-melodies and vocals that crackle on high notes, so even though Broken History is by no means too "modern", the debut has just the right type of atmosphere. Yeah, I won't deny that Bathory is one of metal's most important bands, but the vast majority of metal's most important albums were released in the 80's. There's no Possessed, Death, Celtic Frost, etc in this thread yet either. 80's Bathory was sloppier/kvlt and as a result more a case where most appreciate the significance but don't look forward to each listen as masterpieces of metal. Reign in Blood had sort of a U-shape thing going for it. Every time I see a "Best song?"-type poll for the album, I see Epidemic and Reborn and think "Wait... how do those ones go?" (srsly, I had to check Wikipedia to remember the titles just now).
no order and one per band: manilla road - crystal logic slayer - reign in blood adramelch - irae melanox fates warning - the spectre within blitzkrieg - a time of changes sodom - in the sign of evil celtic frost - morbid tales cirith ungol - king of the dead jag panzer - ample destruction mercyful fate - don't break the oath
