    In what aspects?
Unreal is fun, but as for competitions etc its just too cluttered and all the alt-fire and sketchy movements doesnt really add anything.

Im gonna have to agree with DjWheat when he says Q3 is the most complete and clean competetive game on a professional level when it comes to weapons, aim, tacticts, movement and maps, and this guy knows what hes talking about. The balance is just perfected.

Also when it comes to spectating Q3 is superior due to its fast paced simplicity, even unreal-players said this when spectating pro-tournaments.

Hex Quake Live is free, there is a link in the post above. It's basically Quake 3 played from your web browser. I reinstalled it yesterday if you guys are game. Add me, griev0r.

Quake 3 was fun but really...that got old ages ago, there hasn't been a decent bit of good material for quake since.

And though Quake 3 was fun, to say it is one of the best games for competitive, professional, balanced play is just silly...there was far too many ways to take advantage of that game and rape so much face even if you weren't that great at it. It was fun, yes. But past that...

If you are talking team-based games yes there are lots of alternatives.
If we talk 1on1, no its not silly.
Taking controll of a map by timing items and running maps with routine is not taking advantage of the game, thats what its about and if the players are evenly skilled there are lots of turnovers happening.

Dark Forces 2: Jedi Knight was the best back in the day for head to head imo. The amount of balance between different play styles was incredible, especially considering the wide array of force powers in the game that would typically bring a great deal of overpowered builds to the field, but instead they were able to perfect it so that there were tons of builds to be used that all could compete well with the others when played in the correct fashion. And people that were more skilled in the game were indeed noticeable immediately in the game play.

Also, light saber battles are just for the win.

I like both Q and UT, but I usually end up playing CS:S or TF2.

If the bloodbath forums were to play a game online, I think we would all be standing in our spawn points talking about cocks and boobs

Except all we would manage to see in the chat/console would be Stefans constant spam about... nothing.
