Thats the answer right there...
Will solve all your problems...
I have about the same hair type, and I move my head a lot on stage, so I feel ya. Keeping it conditioned and brushing from the bottom up are the ways I deal with it. Also, if you have enough concentration to spare, you can kind of be conscious of how you headbang in a way that minimizes tangling. Move so your hair flows together. Jerky spastic movements make it tangle more.
Exactly, Which is why i usually try to keep the smooth windmills so it
just kind of drags around instead of jerking it in a horizontal hammer blow pattern, The verticle sledgehammer also can cause more or less tangling
depending on how much slack is in your hair to kind of land on itself and tangle all to fuck.
I figured they made a damn spray or something that would help out
The gliss stuff you can spray in your hair before combing realy helps!
And i look like a gerbil while banging too hehe
hm. Do they sell that at wal mart?
I'll laugh the day they make a product called "Head Bang De-Tang"
I know showmanship is a big part of playing live but this whole thread is just disturbing to me. Something about concentrating on your windmilling headbanging just seems very fake and insincere. What about the music? I guess this thread evokes images of young rockers being schooled by the infamous Bob Rock on how to be heavy metal heros.
Headbanging and other such showmanship are things that are (supposed to be, and generally are) considered after the fact of the actual music with whatever energy and concentration are left to spare for it.
I stopped windmilling and now my headbanging style is more chilled out than it used to be, but my hair is in better shape. You really don't want to overdo it with headbanging - it's not just bad for your hair, it's bad for your entire body if you go as ape shit with it as a lot of guys these days.
Shut the fuck up.
Exactly. To me windmilling and whatever else I feel like doing is not only badass looking, But it actually helps me put more emotion into the music.
Its intense... The guy above that wanted to be a jackass probably sits
on a couch while he plays because hes so still and relaxed. I mean if you gotta concentrate that hard on the "music" you need more practice.
TomAwesome how do you stop your cowboy hat from falling off when doing your "jerky spastic" movements ???
As a Texan, the cowboy hat is permanently attached to my head.
Are we talking about pubes here?
