What is your opinion on this idea: The Maidens breaking the Maiden format for "special Metal Classic shows" and playing not only a lot of Maiden but Metal classics from bands such as: Slayer, Megadeth, Metallica, Judas Priest, Ozzy / Sabbath and more? Would anyone like to see that for special "metal classics shows" or are you violently opposed to it?
As much as I love old metal, I don't have time to do this in addition to Maiden. The other Maidens have another band called Damnzel and are planning on doing different metal covers in that project. Damnzel won't be doing Maiden covers though because they only have 4 members (and because we already have an all girl tribute to Maiden). Check out JoJo and Sara on bass! As for me, I'd rather spend my time in a tribute band to my faves.
I'd just be happy to see ya'll play up here again... play anything ya want It would be fun to see you play other stuff just for fun, but I sure understand Wanda's point of view too.
Sounds like a heavier version of Valley Dolls. Or sounds like a chick Metal 101. Thanks for the Damnzel plug Steph!
id like to vote but never seen you girls live. from what ive heard you sound awesome. im sure whatever you do will be great.
I must admit, the thought of your girls busting out a Slayer tune is pretty damn cool (...CT puts his vote in for Raining Blood). Only know of one Slayer tribute band around here, and haven't seen 'em yet. Besides, by the time you girls get on the stage, there is a good chance that we've already had other opening bands playing some or all of that other stuff. Here's a clever (or stupid, ...it's a fine line between...) thought. How 'bout a compromise: one Slayer song, and a classical piece that Wanda might already be familiar with given a metal treatment? If you do something other than Maiden, it should really be something different. An original piece would be cool too. Just my two cents...
Ya, it shouldn't very well be called the Iron Maidens if non-Maiden stuff was played either. That would be a whole other band.
Yeah exactly. I thought that was the reason for the 'damzel' cover band... Speaking of, did this project ever get off the ground, haven't seen any shows lined up or anything...? The Iron Maidens should stick to what they do so well, Iron Maiden! I'd hate to see a Maiden classic get axed for a slayer tune.
That will never happen. This project (The Iron Maidens) plays only Maiden (at least as long as I'm in the band!).
Bingo ROTLD! YES, Damnzel is alive and well. We are tying up a few loose ends and will be ready to roll in 2004! Will update when all is ripe and ready!!!!
My thoughts exactly... wouldn't want to see it during a Maidens show. From a fan's perspective, the band seems to have gained a ton of respect and momentum over the last year as the Maidens. Would hate to see any of that momentum diminish, especially with your Maiden tribute recording to promote next year. You're all very talented, and if it gets you playing out more often, the Damnzel project would be interesting and fun to see as a side project in addition to (but not in place of!!!) Maiden shows.
My vote was for "yes once and a while it might be nice... blah, blah." My real intention though. I want to hear more originals from these ladies!!!! No matter, which people the are playing with. I love women in metal and hope the world gets on the band wagon. I have been listening to a lot of Fear Of God, Acid King, Kittie, Bottom, and other female fronted or oriented bands lately cause I like what they got to say (or had to say). I wanna hear the women speak up and say what they need to in a metal sense/vein, not just the boring rap/pop girrrls.
Scikik, Can I be in your Go's Go's trib? I look good in a skirt! I work out often to keep my "girlish" figure......hahahahaaahahahahahha
It just wouldn't be the Maidens without the Maiden. Dammit, can't wait for Damnzel to come about, you are all so talented it would have to kick ass!
