I was driving today and listening to an MP3 with all of Opeth's discography, and after Weakness, the drum roll blasted through for Wreath and it was damn amazing. It fits so damn well, and even makes me wonder if the band initially intended to have a link between the two, as Wreath's intro is very abrupt.

Yup, I just tried it and it sounds great. Kind of like the transition between Coil and Heir Apparent.

lol, it actually works pretty nicely. i adore deliverance, but im always turned off by how brutal the album begins, weakness is a great opener for it.

If you put that as the opener, people would lose interest before it gets a chance to start.

You could say that about Mike's vocal style as well.

I like Damnation but have to admit that Weakness, Lullaby and End Credits are pretty weak.

I think it is supposed to be 'weak' in a way. I mean, come on, the song title is "WEAKNESS" after all.

Oh and yes, it's indeed a great transition.

Weakness is maybe the best track on Damnation (if you're keen on mellotron sounds that is).

I love the minimalist approach to it.
