...does anybody know?
"Bork" is the surface of the moon. "Nagar" is the sound when you scratch it.
hehe, just kidding. The name doesn't mean anything. It's a made up word by Øysteins twisted mind.
Maybe you shoud check the thread with the title "what is Borknagar".....
Ahhhhhh....one of my many curiosities solved!!
Yes, but I showed my ignorance first! I'm so proud of myself!
Actually, Borknagar could mean something in my language...
"Borke" is a sort of tree (English "bark") and "nagar" sounds much like "Nager", which is basically a rodent. And a Borknagar would then be someone or something which gnaws on barks.
Like your avatar, Somber Soul. Nice one! .....Is it you?
I have a friend who thought it ment 'nails in ancient wooden boats'!
Øystein said in an interview (probably in Scream,..?) that he came up with the name when he heard about some celtic god(dess) or some holy thing (a stone??) or smth like that; don't remember exactly what, but anyway, he twisted the name a bit, and it became Borknagar.
hmm - I only remember that it was stated that B. was a fiction word,
but I don't remember the details...
*thinking about if I'm gonna bother look through my Scream mags..... not now*
If you look in a Scream mag I think you have to look in an old one..... I think it was smth in Scotland.... or maybe Wales..... Celtic nonetheless
it's simple... BORK was stolen from Star Trek - hehehe. just kidding ofkoz. i don't know what does mean...
Thanks!!! Yep, that's 100% me.
No no.. it's borrowed from the Swedish chef in the muppets: "bork" "bork" "bork" "bork" "bork"
@ Somber Soul
Are you The Crow???
Very good! Should I call myself Somber Crow from now on? Honestly, the resemblance wasn't planned. I only later saw that the pic actually looks Crow-ish. Still, I like it.
i don't seen swedish muppets, but it's sounds convincing
I like it too... keep it
Hehehe that's right, I had the same thoughts... hehehe Borkennager...
You guys are kind. I'll keep the picture, of course.
Silkie, we obviously speak the same language then.
tja, wenn man deutsch spricht klingt borknagar echt ein wenig albern...
