There are gangster´s movies that become a classic. For me, The GodFather´s Mario Puzzo novelist is the best. However, what do you about?: Casino Resevoir Dogs Good Fellas Scar face The intouchables
My favorite gangster movie is without a doubt "Casino"!!! I would put it in my top 3 of films! I saw "Casino" before I saw "Goodfellas" and when I saw "Goodfellas", although it was cool, I was a little dissapointed, as it's the exact same story, the excact same acting (by De Niro & Pesci) and basically the same film, just in different settings. "Goodfellas" is most original in it's sense, but as I saw "Casino" first I like it best. If I had seen "Goodfellas" first I would probably have prefered that one. De Niro & Pesci also play pretty musc the exact same roles in "Raging bull". My favorite after "Casino" is "Carlito's way". Also a superb movie, although not quite as good as "Carsino" (which would be difficult). Then it might be "Goodfellas". I haven't seen "Scarface" yet, so I can't comment on that. "The untouchables" was nothing special IMO and, although De Niro might be my favorite actor, his scene where he's standing on a stair and says something to Costner in a very threatning voice just seems corny. I can't remember what he says, but if you've seen the movie you might know what I'm talking about. The thing about De Niro is that I'm kind of fed up with him playing the same roles over and over again. "A Bronx tale" was okay (in a good way), although it had it's fair share of gross clichés! I didn't like the actor that played Calogero (age 17 or something). He tried really hard being tough, but he just seemed stupid and corny to me. I especially remember one of the first scenes where he's 17 and he tries to act real hard and I kind of laughed while thinking "Narh, how wack!". "Reservoir dogs" was terrible IMO!! I don't consider that a gangster movie though. I've just seen "The godfather" and it was alright, although I wouldn't rate it as the best film ever, as it is at imdb. But as you probably know by know, as I've been saying it all the time: Everybody got different taste! Not the best 2 hours & 50 min. I've spent, but not exactly wasted either. I also have no. 2 & 3, so I'll see them soon. I guess I'll watch no. 2 friday. I haven't seen "Road to Perdition", but I'm looking forward to doing so! I unfortunatly missed it in the theaters!
I declare it!!! The Godfather I is the best gangster`s movie. Marlon Brando, Al Pacino & Robert Duvall, no doubt, represented a credible story of vengeances (vendettas), deaths, loyalties, when all's said and done, human beings looking for power.
By far my favorite! Sergio Leone's tale of life in New York around the beginning of the 19th century is awesome!!
I'm definately going with The Godfather and The Godfather II, although The Last Don was damn good too.
I'll just list my top three: 1.Casino 2.Reservoir Dogs 3.Pulp Fiction Yes, I am a huge Tarantino fan.
1.- The Godfather 2.- The Godfather 2 3.- Goodfellas But, I'm funny how? Funny like a clown? I amuse you? I make you laugh? I'm here to fuckin' amuse you? 4.- Donnie Brasco
If I remember correct me and another guy rented "The last don" once and we thought it was crap! The only thing I really remember was that Darryl Hannah only was in 15 minuttes of the film or something although she was on the cover and that they sat in a car in a scene and they said "Smoke 'em" and sounded hilarious!! But I guess you'd have to see it to find it funny! I think Donnie Brasco was alright, but the ending was crap and ruined the entire picture. If it had had a decent ending it could have been great or even superb, but now only was alright. I hate it when movies are like that!
Without a doubt, the best two movies ever made - The Godfather & The Godfather II. Pacino, Brando, de Niro... absolute classics.
With my loose interpretation of "gangster" movie... in no particular order: Godfather Godfather 2 Resivoir Dogs Pulp Fiction The Usual Suspects Goodfellas Heat True Romance Fight Club Scar Face
are you joking or being serious? anywho why do people always put down the godfather part 3? yes i know its the worst one, but its not shit. i mean when andy garcia says to one of the people that brakes in to the house, ''im gonna do something you may find shocking'' followed by shooting his friend in the head, how can you say its not good!!! anywho most the films if not all are up there as my favourites...and to add a few more names to the mix for the sake of it: mobsters gotti city on fire (the original resivouir dogs, both are great films anyway) oh, and the last don was alright but not great in my opinion. it had some good bits, but a lot of crap too.
