I'm a huge fan of musicals. Miss Saigon, Les Mis, Rent, Phantom, Evita, and classics like Oliver, South Pacific, Anything Goes, etc.

Pretty much the view I've expressed in other threads about "guilty pleasure" music. If I like it, I feel absolutely no shame in admitting it and care absolutely nil what others think about my tastes (or what some would call lack of said taste).

I've also mentioned my love of what I refer to as "pop sensibilities" even in metal. If something lacks melodic content it's likely to get no more than a single listen from me - aggression alone is like a bee buzzing in my ear waiting to be swatted away.

Music has to have something catchy, a hook (by a hook I don't just mean in the commercial sense of things) to really get my lasting attention.

    Agree 100%

Melodic hooks is the reason why you can recall any song from a band like Iron Maiden, In Flames etc. by just mentioning the song title. Try and do that with modern extreme/hardcore metal lol.

I'm totally with you on this one.

As for my current "Guilty pleasure" here's a pretty catchy J-Pop tune: Yeah, it's lame, but I can't get it out of my head! Note to self: I might be taking this anime thing too far :)

You know, this is honestly the first time I've EVER heard any of his music.

Soooo much thought and emotion put into those lyrics.

I don't consider any of these "gay", in fact I still listen to them often

Edit: I don't know why they don't show

Dude! I have been visiting Germany on summer vacation several years in a row when I was a teenager.

Never in my life I have heard worse music than this type of German/Bavarian "pop" (is that even the right word?) music.

It is so horrible I wanna rip my own head off.

    No guys, just no.

I honestly couldn't come up with anything. Is Deadmau5 gay? Because I like that when I'm doing monotonous work or driving for more than 30 mins. Nothing in particular in terms of tracks stand out for me though with his stuff, it's just one big long loopy loo of listening.

I would rather blast country than Bieber or Spears.

And I would take Spears or Alanis Morissette over Deadmau5 absolutely any day, isn't the world a wonderfully diverse place :D

And in all seriousness, jagged little pill is probably one of my favourite albums ever.
