    Im not very educated about AKG mics but i think the cheap one will do just fine until u get the AT4040. I've recorded a lot of vocals with a SM57, so most decent mics will work just fine if u know what u are doing ;)

    I'll say it again, the AT2020 is a fantastic mic for 100 bucks. But out of those two, I'd say the C 214, my friend loves his.

    I have the Perception 220, I love it. It does a lot well. I mean, it's not the perfect mic obviously, but it sounds good.
