"MTV Games and Harmonix are opening up the Rock Band music store to everyone later this year. The Rock Band Network allows any artist to upload and price their own tracks for users to download from the game's music store." http://kotaku.com/5317012/rock-band-network-lets-anyone-upload-their-music-launches-in-09 I know I would pick any Woods stuff on Rockband...
I like the Guitar Hero series A LOT more, their drum set is a million times better than Rockband's. However if WoY put their music in Rockband that would be reason enough for me to go out and buy it.
I'll do it just to make YOU guys happy! I don't know how true this is, but I heard that the band DRAGONFORCE was making like $40,000 a week for a few weeks in a row, last year or so, just from Guitar Hero downloads. A couple weeks of that would be nice, too! + Ridiculous. Now that I think of it, "A Meeting Place and Time" would make a good beginner level song.
Have you guys tried Audio Surf? http://www.audio-surf.com/ It's free and you can pick any song if you've got it on your PC.
Yeah I tried playing it once, I tried playing "A Meeting Place And Time" by WoY but my PC is piece of shit and can't run Audiosurf without EXTREME lag.
I love that Rock Band is actually interested in supporting bands, its no doubt gained some less popular bands ginormous coverage, and possibly money (ah, I remember when Sonic Firestorm out, and I couldn't tell anyone I liked Dragonforce with a straight face). Its tough as hell out there, and people are interested, and willing to pay, so its a great way for supporting bands, some of whom could use it.
shit, i was just about to post about this, from this article: http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/17/mtv-reveals-rock-band-network-track-upload-program-for-artists/ haha definitely want the WoY on Rock band! nice to see i'm not the only one
Glad I came across this. I am completely addicted to this game and I would love to get some Ypres on there!
Just in case you're interested in doing this David: I hate how the PS3 and Wii players are getting shafted on this, but it sounds like a great way for bands to get their music out there.
