    Katatonia is my fav album this year followed by the Horrors - Primary colours(HIGHLY recommended)

    This year has been mostly let downs. all the albums I've been keen for have been mostly terrible. PT's album I just can't seem to enjoy, It annoys me that the better songs on the album are only 2min (or less) long. I get that its ment to be one long song but it just don't work for me. Placebos newie is top 40 trash. They have compleatly lost that special somthing. Even Depeche modes Sounds of the universe is a let down(comming from a MASSIVE FAN)

    Thank god for Katatonia saving the year!

    although i bought quite a lot of albums in 2009 only five of them have actually been released in 2009, so for me it's too early to pick the best 2009 release yet. you should ask me again in, say, 2011. anyway, if i have to pick now - based on the assumptions that anything i bought i like better than all the stuff i didn't buy - i'ld say its:

    - katatonia "night is the new day"
    - diablo swing orchestra "sing-along songs for the damned and delirious"
    - november's doom "into night's requiem infernal"

    in no particular order. the other two 2009 releases i bought where björk's "voltaic" and dream theater's "black clouds and silver linings" (well, i didn't actually buy that last one). I'm still planning to buy the new kittie "into the black" but i don't think that it will be one of the top 2009 albums. and i was close to buying the new paradise lost. maybe i'll come back to that one later. my wishlist is currently cluttered with all those midnight oil remasters...

    So finally I've decided that the album of the year for me is;

    IAMX- Kingdom of Welcome Addiction

    It's so catchy, lyrics are clever, vocals are top notch, a little dark, a little aggressive... Everything I can expect from a band.

    I think maybe this is the first year that my favourite album is not a rock or a metal album... Things change, so do people...

    My Dying Bride - For Lies I Sire. This band has officially lost it, only 2-3 good songs. Nothing is worse than an uninspired and BORING album, blah. A million miles from the greatness of turn loose the swans.

    Paradise Lost - Faith Divides us, Death Unites Us - Ok, but liked the last one quite a bit more.

    *****Looking forward to new Anathema in 2010, can't wait!!!!!!
