Tested Not Insane (rock metal, France)

Tested Not Insane is a french rock metal band formed in late 2012 by Jerome (vocals) and Christophe (guitars). In 2013, they began to work on the band first record. The aim is to try to deliver an original music where their modern heavy metal, groove metal and rock'n roll influences are mixed...

    Clean heavy metal vocals processing

thank you when you say "stereo widening" is it with "echo" delays? I don't know when to use quarter note delays, eighth note delays, if I have to combine them... If I have to add a fixed time slap delay (for example 80ms)...

    Clean heavy metal vocals processing

I tried different things. Apart from a fast delay to "double", do you combine several delays? For exemple a fixed-time slap back (60ms? 80ms? 100ms?). One or several tempo relation stereo echos (for exemple 8th left 8th triplet right, or quarter left quarter triplet right, or 8th left and 8th +...

    Clean heavy metal vocals processing

thank you. The fact is that I'm only a newbie and it's hard for me when listening to a song with vocal tracks in a mix to determine which effects are used and with which settings (type of reverb, decay, early reflexions, type of delay, time, feedback, stereo, doubling...)

EQing mics to come closer to another mic.

The fact is, as other people tried to explain before, is that making music is different to recording pink noise! Frequency charts is one thing, but the way the mic transcribes those frequencies, the transients... are another important thing. A 50$ mic with an EQ will never sound like a vintage...

    Clean heavy metal vocals processing

Hi everyone, I'm quite new here and recently discovered this great forum, I tried to search and read as many tips I can, maybe I didn't look at the right place but it seems there are more tips for guitars and drums than for vocals! I'd like to know which basic vocal processing are the most...

maybe it is a subtle answer to Tate FU stuff!

    Queensryche vs. Queensryche

The problem will be solved later this year, as a judge will decide which of the two band will be allowed to continue with the Queensryche name. I find it incredible to release an album with a crappy, and to remix it while it is released.

    thank you!

A few questions on heavy metal mixing.

For the guitars you can copy and paste the recorded tracks into new tracks, play with panning, move some tracks with 20-30ms delay, applying on some tracks extra saturation with vst softwares... For the bass drum, if it's muddy, try to play with the EQ to find the muddy frequencies, and to make...

    Queensryche vs. Queensryche

I agree, I really like Queensryche live with La Torre, but I'm not a huge fan of the new song. Not a bad song... It's a surprise that Tate put a lot of guitars in his new album, cause he didn't want Queensryche to sound metal on the last albums. Maybe it is to piss Wilton of!

Setting up a recording studio in my basement, need suggestions and recommendations

    * a laptop * a DAW (Pro Tool, Sonar, Cubase, Reason...) * a good usb audio interface (RME, Apogee, Motu, Roland...) I think it's better than those usb mixing desks * neutral preamps (for exemple the 8 channel Audient ASP008 ADAT/AES96) and more coloured preamps for vocals, bass, bass drum...
