I was thinking to buy the Wheels of Steel/Strong Arm of the Law cd for starter, since they had a big influence on the NWOBHM in the early 80's, but I've been hearing a bit here and there that Saxon has actually improved with age, and nowadays soud better than they ever did in during the NWOBHM...

No offense to Testament's current line-up, I bet it's good if not better; I just couldn't come up with a better name for it. I know most people around here seem to prefer The Gathering, so that's why I thought I'd make this poll. I haven't heard The Gathering fully, but I'll buy it soon...

I give it until next album, then I'm worried that it will change again. It's strange, they had the same line-up for 5 albums in a row, then it changed for every record afterwards, they also had different line-ups for studio recording and tour.

So, which lead guitarist that has seen more than one album do you like the best? I'm having a very hard time deciding on this one. Skolnick's solo work kicks ass, but James also does some truly stellar general lead work. It's a matter of what mood I'm in, I guess.
