These folks have been cooking this album for nearly a decade and it's finally out. It's a jazz and djent influenced modern prog metal album with a lot of nice stuff going on. They've got a pretty unique sound and feel I think.

The new Aeternam is out slightly early and holy shit it's beastly. If you've ever liked Orphaned Land then definitely check them out. Epic Middle East-inspired progressive melodeath (I think that's the most applicable genre salad I can apply here).

The Berklee jazz metallers are back with probably their last album, and it's a monster.

I know a lot of folks around these parts found something to love in their previous album, Where Owls Know My Name, and this one is an absolutely worthy followup to that monster disc. I'm gonna get a loooot of spins out of this badboy.

I've been tracking these progressive djenty metalcore folks since late last year and now their debut album is out and it is obscenely good. Progressive metalcore is having a hell of a year (Erra, Architects, Born of Osiris) and Spiritbox is definitely joining the top echelons...

I remember these folks getting a fair amount of love around here, and they've got a new one coming out soon. The one single that's there sounds really good.

One beastly dude doing all the instruments and singing. Reminds me a lot, stylistically, of Soilwork circa 2000. The first album is a lot more death metal, and this one's got a lot more melodeath in it...but if you're a fan of either genre you should definitely check this out.

Found this one via the Laser's Edge newsletter...wow it's a stunner. Melodic djenty prog with Middle Eastern/Indian influence with a fantastically smooth vocalist. There's so much flavor and atmosphere here. I can't wait for my copy to arrive.
