    UNLEASH THE ARCHERS: Apex

Caught this tour a few days ago. Striker is the real deal and was the main attraction for me, since I've never seen them yet. Happy to report they are great live. Singer is just as excellent live and the whole band is just having fun and shredding it up.

IMPELLITTERI: The Nature Of The Beast

i am sorry to say it's just solid but not amazing at all like some of the older records.

    DYNAZTY: Firesign

This is the best the singer has sounded yet. Slick production. Best of genre stuff for sure. I hope they come back to ProgPower sometime.

    Shattered Skies - Muted Neon

Sounds good, if not quite amazing. I am glad they are continuing.

    Shattered Skies - Auxilium // Vol I

Solid but not amazing like the best from thr previous album . New singer is fine, but not special the way the old one was.

Blind Ego- Liquid (A+, 10/10, 5 Stars, Thumbs up)

Yes! Great album . I agree with the Subsignal comparison. I liked this so much, I looked into the older albums especially when I learned Arena's old singer is on one, at least.

Cool. Will be interesting to check it out and reminisce. btw, opening for Savatage was not enough of a career highlight to include in the list? :) the only time I saw you guys.

Original Dokken Lineup Reunites!! (Yes WITH Lynch!)

well, Lynch may not be the shredder he once was ( I have a feeling he's not actually interested in that style of playing anymore), but the last Lynch Mob tour I saw this year was phenomenal, in no small part due to the super-solid Oni Logan though. Last Lynch Mob album and last George Lynch...

New prog metal from New Jersey - OneHundredThousand

These modern proggers are back with a full length album. Excellent modern-rock-ish sounding prog metal. They have a new singer, so some of the songs are re-recorded versions of the old songs. Great production. I think they own or have use of Sevendust's studio. Unfortunately they took down...

    Armageddon

They are based in New York, where Chris lives now, so they do gig every so often in local clubs. They mostly play the new album, Captivity & Devourment, though, which is quite good but I do wish they played some of the clean vocal tracks from other albums. I guess it's not something he wants...

    Spellcaster

This is an amazing song, especially the vocal arrangements/melodies. Unfortunately, the rest of the songs on the album are not as good. Will probably still go see this tour. Probably sounds awesome live.

Prime Prophecy - great symphonic prog metal, for fans of Ascendia

Caught this Polish (living in America) band live a few days ago. They sounded stunning. I am amazed there's so little info about them on the internet. No reviews or anything, even though they released a couple of albums going back almost 10 years. Main attraction is the singer, powerful and...

    Avantasia Live

I am not a huge Avantasia fan so I wasn't sure about having to pony up the bucks for NY show but I am glad I did. Might be the only time I will see a lot of these legendary musicians. I didn't realize just how many of them participated. I was googling in the beginning to find out who the...

    CIRCUS MAXIMUS: Havoc

I don't know what the market trends are like in Europe but in US here , it seems only the more extreme new prog metal bands are successful in breaking into next level , such as playing larger venues. I am talking bands like tesseract, periphery, scale the summit, animals as leaders and the...

    CIRCUS MAXIMUS: Havoc

I agree with the disappointment. The songs are just not there anymore. There are some great moments, like the chorus of Loved Ones, but I am really struggling to find reasons to revisit the rest. The complexity of melodies and instrumentation has definitely been turned down. It's too bad...

    Ramage Inc. New Rough Demo

https://ramageinc.bandcamp.com/ New Album from this great(or should I say "grate" :)) Scottish band! Not quite as amazing as the previous album which outdid Devin's Ocean Machine sound IMHO, but still excellent stuff in the same style. I am surprised this has not been discussed here
