    John Macaluso & Union Radio

Hey Ken, will you guys be stocking "The Radio Waves Goodbye"? (John's my old drum teacher, I'm pretty excited he's finally getting a solo album out.)

    I am a sellout poseur!

I'm glad they're at least making more music. It really is a shame for them and everyone related, what an unpleasant thing to be associated with. I was looking forward to seeing The Gates of Slumber at Boston's Doom & Grind Fest (for which they were also scheduled), but TPOG's singer was booking...

    I am a sellout poseur!

I hate those damned foil stickers. But IHR is without a doubt one of the best labels out there, doom or otherwise. Shame about that whole Thee Plague of Gentlemen fiasco, as TPoG were actually a strong band who'd helped a fantastic label get some more recognition, even though I think they were...

    Ark? What Happened?

Yes, and more recently, John toured with James Labrie of Dream Theater. But yes, Ark are no more, sadly. Huge bummer, I loved those guys.

The funniest things show up on the front page of Vasabladet...

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if Nightwish themselves mentioned it to the press. Given their past announcements on blabbermouth regarding writing a book about their experiences (don't get me started...), I get the impression they're not ones to shy away from publicity. Then again, I've never...

Indie magazines reviewing the new Slayer

Oh, I definitely agree with you on that. If anything, reviews may very well fall into two main camps: the young and naive eager to embrace it, and the old and jaded who discount anything new. Naturally there'll be in-betweens, but it's definitely easy to see the see the same trends in dealing...

Indie magazines reviewing the new Slayer

Unfortunately, I suspect they won't be the only person to reach this conclusion, given the lack of discerning listeners out there. Whether their assessment is credible, obviously, is another matter altogether... ;)

So the new Blind Guardian got leaked

Someone I know was interning for Roadrunner when that whole fiasco transpired. We had a good laugh about it. That's why "The Grand Conjuration" (albeit in edited form) was the first song from Opeth's latest album to leak, it was ripped right from that broadcast, apparently.

Indie magazines reviewing the new Slayer

That review's not too far off the mark. I rarely listen to the album, as it pretty much strikes me as a pile of leftovers (15 years late, to boot). Some interesting death metal touches on the closing track, "Supremist" (musically, not vocally...basically tremolo picking and those...
