    Perhaps but it has indeed replaced metal and even rock when it comes to popular music. Take the omnipresent rap verse in a lot of popular songs today. Before then the guitar solo was commonly used.

    As far as popular culture goes, metal has been irrelevant since the 90s. Rap in particular replaced it as the go to music youth in their so called "rebellious" years listen to.

    Which albums have disappointed you so far this year? I think the new A Perfect Circle was awful and for what is worth the new Dimmu Borgir album was boring as well. How about you?

    I like November's Doom, but this one really did nothing for me on the first spin, it is an hour long but it felt like two. I plan to give it another spin some time to see if I warm up to it.
